Depending on how poorly the rest of the season goes, he might not feel so invigorated when boosters and fans come breathing down his neck from the p*ss-poor effort of this team leads to no tournament appearance or maybe even a losing season.

This is fantastic news!

I was chatting with a fellow donor in the Joe Craft Center lobby (after showing my UK Federal Credit Union platinum card for entry), and we agreed: the best part about Mitch is how he protects us from "fun." Fun is unpredictable. Fun is loud. Mitch prefers "The Kentucky Way," which is a series of choreographed, sponsor-approved moments of mild satisfaction.

I, for one, am glad he doesn't listen to the "rowdy" fans. If it were up to them, we'd have a student section that actually makes noise instead of more premium seating for the Kentucky Farm Bureau executive board. Mitch knows that the real soul of the program isn't in the rafters—it's in the spreadsheets!

You would think all of these horrible contracts would be enough to convince him (or the administration) that he isn't qualified for this job. I don't like to talk negatively about people, but it's clear that Mitch is clueless.
I don't think he's clueless at all. I "suspect" he needs to stay close to continue to cover up damning details of the JMI contract. There are very pertinent questions being asked, to which reasonable answers go unprovided. The smoke is thick and suffocating while Mitch tells us there's no fire, at all. Nothing to see here.

I find it strange that he can’t explain the JMI deal. I feel like something isn’t right. He’s hiding something! I could be wrong but it feels like he and his staff members are set to gain money from the deal.
I agree. Simple questions are being asked without valid answers. Something is amiss and when simple questions are turned into complicated, incoherent non-answers ... you know the guilty are controlling the narrative. What is the truth? One thing is certain ... the heat needs to be turned up daily.

Who is Kenneth Copeland? I don't understand what you are referring about. Please enlighten me
He’s a “pimp the gospel” pastor. One of those kinds who asks you to give your last dollar to “sow a seed for the Lord.” He’s one of those “name it, claim it” heretics who teach mysticism and add some flowery “Christianese” to make it sound biblical. Here’s a funny video about him ending coronavirus:

Mitch is done. That is evidenced by the Will Stein hire. That hire was obviously made by someone other than Mitch. We have a long history of Mitch hiring patterns and this one broke all the patterns.

Mitch always waited until the job was vacant to perform any function of the search. That was evidenced by time to find the hire and lack of early vetting. Here they contacted stein months in advance to gauge interest just in case. Mitch never ever did that. He had no idea Mrs Drew didn't like Lexington, so obviously he did no prevetting.

Look how quickly the hire was made, which was made easier by the prework. Calipari was gone for several days but still officially employed before Mitch did anything. He drug out the process then settled for one of his safe choices that he knew would say yes in half a second.

Finally the contract. Compare the contracts of Cal, Stoops, Pope, and Stein. 3 of those deals are overwhelmingly rich and one sided in favor of the coach. Stein's is a steal in comparison. I knew soon as I saw that payday, Mitch did not negotiate that deal.

So Mitch is already done. He might well stay with that title for a bit longer but obviously someone else is now running the show at least in terms of making hig decisions.

I think its fair that the majority of this board wants Mitch to retire. He has to give a 6 month notice to do so he can fulfill that ambassador role through 2028. In order to do so, he has to give it by Dec 31st 2025.

As of now it seems like Mitch is 50/50 on retiring or not.

"An old boss of mine told me one time, every time you make a 50-50 decision, you lose 50% of your friends. He’s probably not wrong, but we love Kentucky. I get up invigorated about what we’re doing at work." - MItch

He's about to lose the entire BBN if he doesn't retire in 2026.

"I love watching our kids compete. When that day comes — and don’t know — I’ll sit down with my family, and we’ll talk and determine what’s best for our family and for me, but most importantly, what’s best for Kentucky" - Mitch

What's best for Kentucky is to retire. We need someone new Mitch. Take your money and retire man.

There needs to be consequences beyond the AD's office if the University retains Barnhart. He has been a financial disaster for the University, and we continue to retain him.
Take Eli out with him.
He's as clueless as Mitch or so dumb he can't
see what's going on

Mitch Barnhart single handily destroyed what men before them built for 100 years.

Had Pratt not been here, the Calipari era never happens, and we’d have been irrelevant since Pitino. Think about that. And he’s gone. The Rupp guys have been staging off Barnhart for years.

Barnhart is the worst AD you could ever hope for. The guy is a train wreck corporate hack and he’s had 50% maybe a little less of the base supporting the destruction of the program. It’s amazing what propaganda can do. It’s also why are politics are so screwed up. Give them the illusion of choice and we’ll buy in, Barnhart hall gave the illusion he wanted to win and they bought in. Pay closer attention.

I agree it’s what I’ve been saying. He’s been done, that’s why the president and Mitch looked like lost dogs during that presser. Mitch clearly knows his legacy here is gone. He looked like he had been depressed for weeks during that presser, and also lashed out at the press. He’s under the gun. He didn’t have anything to do with that hire. The poor hire ended his decision making here, believe it 100%. It’s why the president stood up there and made half the speech about how great Barnhart has been for this university.

Was he not an assistant AD at Tennessee? That might explain it.

JMI has been handling our stadium and arena stuff for 10 years, correct? So would they have been involved in the creation of the "Barnhart Family Athletic Complex" a couple years back? Not trying to be conspiratorial, just thinking out loud

I watched the entire video and don’t know what you mean. Do you mean he proved demon possession happens by his own abhorrent and greedy behavior, his unashamed twisting of Holy scripture to uphold his own sin, or are you referring to his unveriable anecdote?

History will not be very kind on the Barnhart ERA here. He’s been making an *** of himself for quite a few years now. Not sure if he’s suffering from dementia, or he’s just naturally clueless.

Perhaps, since he’s a Kansan, his plan is to totally destroy the Basketball program on his way out.

Lord knows he’s clueless about football.

ok i've seen all the Terrifier and Insidious movies but none of them are as scary as whatever the f*ck that was
Only scratching the surface. There are terrifying clips of this man out there. I’m a Trump guy but the worst thing about him is he has people like Copeland and Paula White as friends/faith advisors. Evil, evil people.

really don't understand how he has not been held accountable for these events that have clearly hurt the university and its image

By his very existence, I think it showed demon influence and abilities. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if this guy was actually possessed, at least by oppression or something lol. Scary guy. At least one of the forms to some degree. I’ll always believe he’s evil.

He also claimed he has a covenant with God, and will live to be 120 so…. Hard to believe people follow this guy. But man, millions do.

It is very sad that Mike Pratt has passed. He was a great ambassador for UK and coach Rupp.
He would have been the perfect AD and with out a doubt, done everything possible for the basketball to regain the notoriety of old.
Just wish some of the former players would become more involved.....Issel, Grevey, Dampier, Bowie........guys that appreciate the UK tradition
and its fans.

I know this is the basketball board, and honestly, Barney has sucked with basketball also. 1 title in 23 years overseeing the basketball program is atrocious.

Football is even worse under his watch. Kentucky hasn’t even played in a conference championship in his 23 year tenure. That’s incompetence. Hell, even Missouri has played in 2.
