Good luck 2nite, hope you guys stay healthy no injuriesYour about 24hrs to early on this one. We have to go to Swannanoa before we can even think about next week.
If Mitchell plays as bad as they did last night, Avery might give them all they can handle.Purple after tonight I think it will be awful quite on this thread. Avery is improving but still a long ways away from competing with you guys. Hopefully soon we'll be back to the days where the Avery and Mitchell game will have a lot of meaning.
It will happen you guys seem to be building a program your middle schools had 2 straight winning seasons you're 2-3 years from winning the conference my opinion but you guys are still a class actPurple after tonight I think it will be awful quite on this thread. Chad and Troy both played a heck of a game tonight who knows what will happen next week, the offense you guys have and our defense will be one for the ages, hollar at me after the game one thing you can bet on it will be clean, these kids all like each other, last time a few of them will face each other on a football field we should all be proud of the men they have became see you guys in NewlandPurple after tonight I think it will be awful quite on this thread. Easy player2020 lol. Let’s be humble. Avery has the talent to beat us. Especially if their passing game gets loose. It’ll take our a gameJust like the past few years, Avery cannot stop Mitchell’s run game.
NFSH Network should have the gameI haven't been able to find anything to I assume Avery hasn't set up anyway to watch the game on youtube or anything?
Yeah thanks I just looked again I first just saw no future events but then I noticed the Madison game there so I guess they just haven't updated it yet. Actually looks they have one of the better video qualityNFSH Network should have the game
They also have sound you're not wondering who ran the ball or who made the tackleYeah thanks I just looked again I first just saw no future events but then I noticed the Madison game there so I guess they just haven't updated it yet. Actually looks they have one of the better video quality
Yeah it makes it much more enjoyable to watch with commentators and not just hear I think it is, it appears to be a first down from the stadium announcer like the Forest Hills game, lord that was annoying. I watched one of Avery's earlier games and they had Deelee Scott and Teddy Bare doing the commentating and they done a good job, I also really like the way Heritage pairs up the wkyk call of the game up with the video feed. I started getting a subscription to the NFHS network back during the Tennessee football season when I adopted Elizabethton as my Tennessee team, even managed to get into the Elizabethton Greeneville playoff game to get a fix for my missing high school football so much in the fall. I have really enjoyed having the subscription and being able to watch games from all over and I like that you can go back and watch games on demand. I hope that games being videod is something that continues after covid, but I'm sure most teams will not continue it due to hurting ticket sales, but it has really been great for family members that live far away being able watch relatives play.
First off have fun. And Thank God its you and not me. Done the Disney thing with mine a couple of times. Had a blast but not again. Too Old. Second, hope to get to go to Avery on Friday.I'll have to pay the 10.99 I guess. I'm en route to Florida, taking the kiddos to Disney World. First Avery game I've missed since 94. I was 6...
I'd just assume get a root canal, but it's for the kids...First off have fun. And Thank God its you and not me. Done the Disney thing with mine a couple of times. Had a blast but not again. Too Old. Second, hope to get to go to Avery on Friday.

You’re a good man Charlie Brown. Disney is the freshest hell in the amusement business. I walked out of there dehydrated and broke after 6 fun filled days of trading sweat with folks.I'd just assume get a root canal, but it's for the kids...
Have fun..I used to love to go to Disney world. First time I was a kid we went the first summer it opened back then you didn't pay to get in but went to booths and bought tickets for each ride some rides like the Peter Pan ride was free.I'd just assume get a root canal, but it's for the kids...

My oldest brother played three years for Bowman Bulldogs and his senior year was the center and co-captain for the first Mitchell team..they thought it best to have one captain from Bowman and one from Harris.A little history on Mitchell's oldest rival:

The Rivalry has always been a heated, but respectful one, with it coming to a pinnacle in 2010, when the two met in Newland in the 3re round of the 1aa playoffs. Avery, 10-3 and #2 seed, was led by gunslinger Alex Villeneuva, and was a state championship contender. Mitchell, sitting at 7-7 and a #15 seed, was led by Justin "Juggy" Hughes and his high speed ground attack. Mitchell had seen much turmoil that season, losing 6 starters to a horrific car accident days before the first game. Avery had cruised thru most of the season, beating Mitchell 14-7 in the season finale. On a cold, windy Black Friday, Mitchell absolutely dominated the Vikings 47-22, in Newland, to go to the Western Final, the farthest the Mountaineers had been to that point.
We lost in 91 Jeremy Ollis lord rest his soul dropped a td to end the game, it was homecoming and heartbreaking he was a good pal still greatly missedThe 95 game was one of the only games coach riddle lost to Avery. It placed what I think was one of the best Mitchell teams ever in a 3 way tie for 1st. We lost the coin flip. My favorite win was the 90 game where they sent us funeral flowers before the game.
Jeff Daniel's was qb they were undefeated we had won 2 g ac mes we beat em lol, you Mountaineers think about this **** and dont be cocky tomorrow night go to workThe 95 game was one of the only games coach riddle lost to Avery. They hadn’t played a tough schedule in 90. We played a really tough schedule. They thought we were dead in the water lol.Jeff Daniel's was qb they were undefeated we had won 2 g ac mes we beat em lol, you Mountaineers think about this **** and dont be cocky tomorrow night go to work
Yeah I rememberThey hadn’t played a tough schedule in 90. We played a really tough schedule. They thought we were dead in the water lol.
Tomorrow night may be epic who knows the boys will decide I pray they all are healthy and no injuries regardless of the outcome go MountaineersThis is by far my favorite game on the schedule. I have more family that have graduated from Mitchell then Avery (not to mentionon on the/the coaching staff now). I remember those games in the 90's. Arguably the best and most heated this rivalry has ever been. Those were the days when Heritage was a team you scheduled for a win on homecoming and the biggest game of the season was the last one on the schedule. Oh how things have changed. Look forward to the game tomorrow night, but mostly looking forward to the day when we can get some what back to the 90's.
It does seem the local Avery County names become less and less as years go by on their teams, which is completely understandable when you see how the blue collar local families have been pretty much uprooted from Linville to Banner Elk and Beech Mountain and replaced with wealthy families from south Florida. This is slowly happening all across the mountains, but it is happening at a lot faster pace in upper Avery county and covid has only sped it up even quicker when everyone decided they wanted to be isolated in the mountains.I miss the days were you heard Crowe on the tackle, Daniel's with a first down, Johnson on the sack, what the heck happened in Avery co, now you hear names you never heard of, other than Hoilman I guess a new era?
