And that’s exactly what kids want to hear about now, they don’t care about the name on the front. They care about the numbers on the check
Then why won’t Stokes sign on the dotted line? Our offer is superior by far to Kansas according to every media outlet, he’s a Nike kid, he’s signed with Nike. Must be about something else to some kids.

I hope Mo Williams is great success here……………..

But a couple of adages to consider.

1) You are who you surround yourself with

2) D players hire D players

Duke (a program we all ******* hate) hires a GM who worked at NIKE and the NBA.

UK hires a GM from BYU (video coordinator) and the G League (NBA affiliate)

There is a reason why this program is failing and it starts and ends with leadership at all levels of this administration and program.
The nerds have to stick together!

Do you think a big time point guard is coming to Kentucky now????? This sums up our fate with his son as the point guard. Atleast we beat out Jackson State for his son.

What a joke this program has become 😑
Dude, I get the being down on Pope thing but he's gonna be here next season whether you like it or not. I have no idea if this hire will bring a big time PG or not but it can't hurt. Mo was awesome at Alabama & played with LeBron & won a ring, no one on the staff this season had a resume even close to this. Pope knows what next season means to the fans & for his job, it looks like he's trying.

I think this is a home run hire for an assistant coach and we simply get a 4 star PG as a bonus. What the Hell are some of ya'll smokin on here? My gosh this place is rancid at times. Anyone who doesn't think this is a good hire is stupid and if they don't pull for us to always win..Lord I hope they find a team they like better and just go away!

He has to be better than what we had. But I doubt there’s a 17-18 year old recruit that knows anything about him.

He was hired to get his son. Package deal.

Nothing more or less.

hard for me to believe he has deep ties with elite level recruits. guy has been at jackson state for 4 years and been fishing in a different pond. recruiting is about relationships....are we really to believe he has tons of great relationships with guys that were never ever going to play for him?
It’s not the players he needs the deep relationships with. It’s the handlers/agents.

I have no idea if he’s a good hire but Pope is fighting for his job so I’m glad he’s making changes. If everyone thinks he’s a dorky guy, then seems to me bringing in a “swaggier” assistant makes sense. Obviously Hart or Brooks weren’t that.

If it works great and if it doesn’t we’ll be looking for a new coach next season. Hope it works out.

The former NBA star, who played 13 seasons in the league, has been a head coach for six seasons at Alabama State and Jackson State. Williams went 69-109 the last six years as a head coach, including a 12-21 record during the 2025-26 campaign. Williams's joining Pope's staff comes just days after his son, Mason Williams, committed to Kentucky.

Pope wanted to hire someone that loses more than he does.

Rod Strickland was with Cal at Memphis, directing their basketball operations. When Memphis was winning 38 games. What qualifies Mo Williams? He played in the NBA?
Not only played but played over 10 years. Won a title. Multiple All Star. Figured he learned a few things. He’s coached. Has kids so he can relate. NBA teams wanted him to assist but some on Rafters know better. Guys like he and Rod Strickland are guard whisperers . What guard recruit wouldn’t want to learn under his tutelage.

But some basement dwelling negative Rafters “ experts” know better? Makes me laugh.

Glad to have both of them!
