Another Badke gag! Come all the back from 14 down on the road. Go up 7 with minutes left in the game and you guessed it. Not only give up a TD with seconds left. You knew Montini would get the 2 point conversion.

They had the 2nd best team in the state last year and they go out in first round vs. Fremd. Previous year vs. Palatine was quite the gag up 17 pts. in quarter finals and lose in 4th qtr. Last years Prep Bowl playoffs vs. Mount Carmel up 21 and lose. He is now 2-6 in his last 8 games.

He has brought excitement back to Crusaderland but the game management of he and his staff has much to be desired.

When does he lose the BR fan support?

Recurring theme they are getting the players but the defense and coaching is pathetic. Brian seems like a good enough guy but they seem to underachieve much to often. He has 2 playoff wins and will most likely not make it this year. He likes a hard schedule. Playoff points galore but no playoffs this year.

That game was a thriller. It reminded me of the Montini JCA state title game when Montini went for the 2 points and the win

They have Dan Nicholson, BR alum and former NIU QB on their staff right now, could be his replacement. BUT I really don't he's going to get fired, Bar stool rumor is he may be leaving on his own accord to concentrate on his career. Keep in mind this senior class wasn't one of there stronger classes to go through BR. The juniors are very good, Badke may want to see them through.

Badke isn't going anywhere. Remember this time last year he had BR rated in the top 25 in the country, not IL the COUNTRY. Sure some teams have underachieved and games lost they should of won. With close to 70 freshman on the team, overall the program is in a good place.

I thought BR made excellent half time adjustments last night but was forced to pass after some mistakes/ penalties. If they had stuck to the run might have run off another 45 seconds before punt, exciting finish.

Bottom line is it is hard to win with majority of jr starters. Br should back in the battle for the blue title next year. Also the loss of Ricky smalling to graduation is obvious. He made life so easy for brother rice . Points are a lot harder to come by when bubble screen don't go for 80 yrs tds every week.

Don't get me wrong, I hope Badke sticks around. He's there as long as he wants to be IMO. BR is now beating MC, Rita, Provi with some consistency and competitive with LA. Having a big freshman football class has a lot to do with him. Freshman football rosters are shrinking dramatically everywhere.

Of course it's on the players too. I hope he can start closing in the big games.

That's the rumor going on the south side after the Marist guy left. Also the Rita coach says he is only guaranteeing he will be head coach until his youngest graduates from SR. That's not for what 6-7 years. Can't blame them. People with these qualities could make more money in the private sector. Also heard the LA coach turned down a college job as the defensive coordinator with the understanding he would get the head coaching job in a couple of years.

Now if they were a superintendent at the Lincoln-Way's I'd stay until my golden parachute kicks in.

I'm promise you Badke isn't moving on to focus on anothe career. Actually his job wouldnt hire him if he didn't keep coaching. There is a ton of flexibility for him.
On that note you will see more and more head coaches not in the building within the catholic schools moving forward. I give BR and badke credit for making that move

Not likely, not saying BR is doing anything wrong or that it can't work on a case to case basis but in general that's not a good move.

It's definitely not ideal but it's all about money and getting quality coaching. The catholic school just don't/won't have the money to sustain a quality coach with a family unless the wife is making the money.

What is ideal is priest and brothers teaching aka free labor but that's not the case anymore. There are more lay teachers than ever before which obivously cut into budgets.

Great game! First half went to Montini and 2nd half minus the last 2 minutes to BR. I thought the BR coaches did an outstanding job with half time adjustments. The game is played on the field and Montini's players did what was necessary to get the win on the field. Last year Montini started a ton of juniors on defense and offense and the same this year with a few sophs thrown in also. Montini has around 400 boys enrolled and BR has around 1400. Montini moves up to the Blue next year so BR will play Montini for several more years to see which program is better!

Last year BR dominated Montini moving up and down the field offensively and Montini had no answer for them and won by over 30 points. No talk then about the coaches this or the coaches that. This year different story.

BR had a bigger O line and a bigger D Line than Montini just as Fenwick did last week. Montini had smaller but quicker players in the lines. In addition to the heat (around 85 degrees at the start of the game) the physical toll of blocking those big line men started taking its toll in the 2nd half in my opinion.

Montini did not adjust as well in the 2nd half and probably should have thrown the ball more often against a defense that gave up 400 yards passing the week before. BR defense in the 2nd half was stacking the box against the Montini run game which did well in the 1st half but was stopped in the 2nd half. The time to throw the ball was earlier in the 3rd quarter. Montini seldom threw the ball on first down in the entire game so BR was ready for the run when it came and only hard nosed running got the yards needed to keep moving the ball.

Montini had at least 6 players playing both offense and defense for the majority of the game but those 6 players were the major difference in how Montini won this game. Montini's QB Orlando and WR Quaglia were the big difference makers in this game and both played substantial minutes on both sides of the ball. IMO BR players played their hearts out and my hats are off to them as they were a minute away from victory. I think BR is a very good team who still can win the games necessary to make the playoffs.

Good post but BR has nowhere near 1400 boys enrolled...maybe with the multiplier....they have more like 900
