Is this game even going to be remotely close? Running clock by half? Take nothing away from strong Evergreen Park team but this just screams total mismatch. Any thoughts on this game?

Is anyone getting in the way of Montini in 5A this year? Figured Sycamore was their only test including the South Bracket.

Turner will make some plays for EP.

This is an extremely young team playing with house money.

They aren’t going to win, but they aren’t going to lose by 70 either like it seems most are suggesting.

EP appears to have handled their competition in playoffs pretty well. really with a running clock? is this team anywhere close to sycamore talent?

EP's South Suburban red conference record is 2-4 and the teams they lost to include Richards, TF North(forfeit win), Eisenhower, Shepard, and Argo. EP has scored 193 points and given up 260 points.

Given the above I kinda of like Montini in this one unless Feeto puts his curse on it.

No disrespect to EP but Montini will win by 42+ points. Montini is out of EPs league. They really lost to Argo? Ouch

EP came into the playoffs as a last seed #16.

They won 2 games in a row as underdogs including knocking off the #1 seed. Now they get to play at home.

Never underestimate your opponent.

By rule you can't have a running clock until 2nd half

I have been in at least ten varsity games in last 20 years where the clock started early. Including a playoff game. But Yes I know that is the rule.

Here’s a little more about Evergreen Park since people just look at scores and dismiss them.

They have an immensely talented group of freshmen. The coaching staff kept those kids together the whole year and the group went 9-0, which is saying something since Evergreen is the smallest school by a wide margin in that league.

The varsity now starts the freshman quarterback and running back and they’ve become a much more dangerous team. You don’t score 111 points in two games unless there’s some talent.

Again, I’m not predicting a win, but I’ll be shocked if Montini clocks them as early as people are predicting. If we are going to look at scores like many are on here, Montini beat 0-9 Christ the King 42-0. I think it’s safe to say that the Mustangs are better than Christ the King.

I might be at the game, go EP! Nice article on their coach.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/subu...ta-spt-pat-disabato-column-st-1107-story.html

still ironic that EP got into the playoffs because TF North had to forfeit because a kid played the soph and varsity games.
I won’t/can’t say who but a person at TFN said Evergreen Park & a Conference Offical said it was ok since they weren’t in the same Conference Per Se.Then right after they hit him with the forfeit. The Same thing happened years ago in the Prep Bowl Playoffs.Gordon Tech was drilling Leo.Leo said GT was running it up which wasn’t true.Anyway Leo said it was ok to put underclassmen in.Well they did at the very end of the game & Leo cried like bitches afterwards & GT had to forfeit the game.GT was not nice about their feelings in the paper as I recall

Agree Wassup. Just putting up some factors which lead me to believe that Montini wins this game. I don't and wont predict any kind of score in this game and wasn't implying negative about EP!

Don’t pick this hill to die on. Trust the board, Montini can win by as much as they want to. The game will be over in the first quarter and Montini calls off dogs as soon as clock is running.

I genuinely hope that Evergreen Park keeps things rolling but you’re gonna counter by saying they are starting freshman from their 9-0 freshman team? Come on man those kids will get murdered by Montini. Montini went 8-1 in the CCL Blue and we are talking about freshman football in whatever mediocre conference Evergreen Park is in?

Is this the most guaranteed game in the schedule or Saturday? Sounds like it’s a lock. Don’t know too much about EP besides scores and what is said on here so my gut says Montini by a large margin. Probably will depend on when they call the dogs off.

It’s always a concern when a bunch of 14 year old freshmen are playing against 16yr -18yr year old Juniors and seniors. Doesn’t bode well for being competitive - that is.... unless they are the Bartlett Freshman!

I saw they played Richards who is still in it in 6a. How does Montini match up with Richards?

For one, it’s my alma mater and unlike Edgy allowing a clown like PC dad to **** all over them repeatedly, I won’t take it. Deal with it. If he wants to flush me for it, I’ll take my monthly contribution with me. Better ways to spend the $10 if this is the type of crap on this forum.

I gave input as to why they have had success in the first two weeks. Not once did I claim that they would win. It wasn’t a counter either. Reading comprehension isn’t one of your best attributes. They have talented young players. Period. Good enough to score 111 points in two weeks. I’m pleased that this program, which loses kids consistently to Carmel, Rita, Rice and Marist is still playing. All I said was what these kids have done in the last two weeks and why they have. I don’t care if you want to **** all over their accomplishments or the level they came from.Trash the conference. Trash the team. Whatever.

Not trashing EP, never said anything negative about them. As a matter of fact my sister used to be Asst Superintendent of school districts. All I said was that they can’t match up against Montini. That’s all. Sincerely Bozo the Clown

Spicy but with a slight hint of anger and frustration. Score is 9.3

I agree with you regarding their accomplishments, and your characterization of PC Dad.

This is likely a bit of a mismatch but it says more about the weirdness of 5A than anything, a mix of oddly sized suburban schools (Glenbard South, Hillcrest), weaker CPS schools (without Phillips), good but not consistently great western IL and downstate programs like Highland / Sterling, and significantly impacted by stronger schools like Washington and Antioch being pushed to 6A. This class is literally the epicenter of the success factor, if they left Naz and SHG in 5A a public school wouldn't win this class for decades - makes a good case to go back to 6 classes

So you're saying a team that draws from a huge population base, that has no restrictions on who can play for them, has an edge on a school that draws from a small population and is restricted to that base only. Wow. Youre a freakin genius
