Adding to the cat/dog thing, our previous dog (may she RIP) was a sweetheart in so many ways, but she wouldn't play fetch to save her soul. If I threw a ball, she wanted to keep it. She did like playing tug, but her teeth were in pretty bad shape and they'd bleed, so that wasn't a good option. Our current dog is a terrier mix and loves playing fetch and tug, and she loves to give the squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits in our backyard a run for their money. She's going to be 3 years old this spring and she has the spirit and energy of youth, but she loves to cuddle and take a nap with you. She's wonderful. Our son's girlfriend conned him into adopting a cat which has become my wife's cat. Can't really play with the cat or pet her as she devolves into scratching and "play biting." Dogs >>>> Cats any day of the week.
Omg…this hire can’t be announced soon enough

I would think he may have learned a few things along the way. He was able to make some changes to improve things that Franklin wasn't able to figure out. He may or may not be the answer but don't hold mistakes against him from decades before.
Not working for Rhule and Franklin...they've never shown him how to win big games.
He's not the answer and his past shows that along with the Indiana game

The fired coaches on the other teams are still unemployed with no prospect for employment at another legitimate program. Big difference.

No interim head coach was going to stop the flow of players out of PSU given the negativity of this season. Recruits were leaving before Franklin was fired. It is unfair to lay the blame on Terry Smith who is nothing but a lame duck at this point. Only a new, permanent head coach can salvage this class.
Franklin has been hired for a week and taken one kid...the mass decommits happened long before. He absolutely gets blame. It was his job and responsibility

Kraft keeping things close to the vest. Top target is Debouer. If 'Bama loses Saturday night it could happen. After that it's anybody's guess. Chesney did not interview well last week. Drinkowitz wife does not like State College area. Key was interview three weeks ago. HARTLINE & Oregon OC Coach Stein still in the mix, plus one mystery coach we can't identify . Don't shoot the messenger.
Just the opposite of when we heard Chesney killed the interview.

So the only success is winning the Natty every yr? If that's the case, this sport and program has jumped the shark as they say. Just give me the Joe Pa era where we competed for it all evry 5yrs or so.
Make the playoff and contend. A bowl game doesn't matter at
Paterno preached "doing things the right way" ane people accepted way too many mediocre seasons. With the portal mediocrity is never acceptable.
All Franklin had to do this year was beat the 9 easy wins on this schedule while still losing to everyone with a pulse and he's still employed. But he lost to UCLA and Northwestern after being given what he asked for and saying it was his best team. UCLA and Northwestern

People build relationships with insiders and those with connections.
The plan hasn't changed since day 1. Elko was always the top target if Meyer said no...they'll continue to work on Meyer but Hartline is Plan B. Cignetti was never offered. Rhule was never offered. No one that has gotten an extension other than Elko was even considered. There is allegedly a mystery candidate (two names circulating) but unless Urban has a change of heart the smart money is on Hartline.
I thought Meyer was out weeks ago??

Same reason people claimed rules didn't apply to me on the old board
The reality of the situation is that a bunch of new names are popping up over the past 12 hours. Maybe its all BS maybe not. But I've been consistent since day 1 on what I've said. Cignetti was not being considered. Rhule was not being considered. Elko was target one...they had lots of talks with Urban and still likely are. Hartline is or was (hopefully is) plan B.
Crazy if Cignetti wasn't being considered.

My freshman year was the year we won the National Championship. I sat on College Avenue near my dorm for the parade then ran to Old Main for the rally. I loved JoePa. I loved everything about his era. I later read his address to the BOT after the 82 Championship. I loved what he wanted and what he gave to the University. With that said…. I believe JoePa would want us to move on in a way that honors not him, but what his goals were for the program. He would want a winner, he would want his guys to graduate, he would want students involved in the game day experience. It’s different time now, but that doesn’t mean the next coach has to be a JoePa clone or the Anti JoePa.

Nebraska is a mid-tier team playing with a freshman QB. Not a colossus by any stretch. Granted PSU lost to UCLA so not saying much. It was the battle of the smurfs.

As for your erotic compulsion to resurrect the memory of a dead and buried coach is truly sad.
Mid-tier is not the same as doormat 🤡 You also have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old because I never did what you claim in your second paragraph. Speaking of eroticism, your juvenile post confirms you could probably you know what a you know what dream.

Name one recruit who de-committed before Franklin was fired. I’ll wait.

At his age, he was never going to be considered for a major job--just a reality.
Kraft nor any other program, contacted him about an opening.
His age would be the only reason you have pause but he's far better equipped to lead in the new era than a guy like Urban in my opinion and he's 61, so age had better not be the deciding factor.

Will the new coach have Nattys and a Hall of Fame resume?
Hopefully when he is done here.

Dabo fits that description and I wouldn’t want him for here because he is unlikely to have that success at PSU continuing forward.
