UL does need U.K. They will crow more about beating U.K. in football, then being ranked in the top 15. When we beat them in basketball, it's their hatboggen, "We beat you in football, we are a football school....." Drop em in both and fill in IU and it's the same attention nationally. Sorry but UofL no longer needs UK since they have moved to the ACC. That logic has since passed and doesn't make sense to keep repeating it. It's an in state rivalry of which we will continue to play. Our time is coming but I don't think it's this year and maybe not even next year wit Jackson still there. This staff, like the ones before them, somehow have ever failed to contain a mobile QB.

Louisville has been to 15 bowl games since 1998 (7-8) and won 2 BCS Bowls with a 16th bowl coming this year. UK has been to 7 bowl games since 1998 (3-4) with an 8th bowl coming this year.

Pretty sure Louisville has spent more weeks in the AP Top 25 than U.K. Has since 1998.

The administration simply needs to show the same commitment to winning that ul's administration has shown.Once we get to the point we're at least holding our own with them, then we should consider the entire schedule. There has been constant whining on this and other boards about our poor ooc schedule. Our strength of schedule is not a problem (annually) but I do understand some fans wanting more variety. That said, once we are on their level, then consider putting them in a rotation with other P5 schools such as iu, WVU, Purdue, maybe unc, etc... As for dropping them now, that would be a poor move.

Unless I'm wrong not many non UK or UL fans care one way or another about either fb teams. This is not bb where both teams have a national presence. Hasn't been for too long a time.

They are honestly not acting like a 24.5 point favorite. I have never heard a huge favorite like them talk about hating the other team and the coach not letting the players talk to UK media. Sounds like they could be a bit nervous.

What does switching conferences have to do with needing UK? We've played UK every year despite the conference changes which (if anything) goes to show you the UK game is irrelevant to the need to be in a better conference. It's not like we played UK and then dropped you guys once we got to the ACC. Then you may have an argument.

Plus, if UK was fulfilling a major need for our schedule like you appear to state above we wouldn't have to switch conferences in the first place.

The fans that want to drop the series are simply making excuses for the administration instead of holding them accountable. You don't like what's been happening? Blame Mitch and Co. You have the resources, money, larger fan base, conference affiliation (something UofL didn't have until the ACC) to get it done.

If UofL could get to this point via CUSA, the BE, then the AAC. Then theres no reason you couldn't have done it with the money, prestige and exposure of the mighty SEC.

Most years that's probably true, but Lamar Jackson is definitely a national star this year. People want to see him simply because he might bust a big play at any given moment and hes most likely going to win the Heisman. Jackson does change interest level and viewership.

Well, we were a dropped interception away from beating them two years ago, and if Boom doesn't get hurt in last years game, we had a great shot to win as well. He was killing them until he got hurt. So to say we will not beat them for years is really dumb. You act like they've been beating us by 50 every year.

UL does not need us anymore. They are nationally ranked and have a Heisman QB. The days of needing us to validate them(if that was ever true) are long gone and have been for a few years.
