It is not easy to get to, so factor In plenty of extra time. The only parking is in the commuter lot south of the tracks. If you’re coming up Park ave from the south there will be a log jam at the lot entrance. Better to take a right (east) on Hill, go one block to Montclair and turn left (north). Follow Montclair till it ends at the east side of the lot. Drive to the middle and back in if you can. Exit the same way.

Now you have about a half mile trek and a rail crossing that can be delayed by freight and passenger trains. Once you get to the field you’ll be surprised at what a tiny venue it is. There is only one ticket booth, and there will be a line.

As mentioned in the previous Welcome to Duchon thread, the visitor stands only holds about 200. I’ve been told that back in the eighties, that a portion of those stands were damaged, removed and for some reason, never re-built. You may be standing. But hey, if it’s a close game you might be standing anyway.

And don’t come too hungry. Only one small concession stand under the home seats. You don’t want low blood sugar at Duchon.

Okay, there you have it. Rain coming on Friday morning. Let’s hope the field holds up so the best team wins

No, but I failed to mention that we do have one of best game announcers in the business. None of that screaming, rah, rah, cheerleading, self-promoting annoyance that I so often hear at other fields. You get the play, the players involved, down and distance and penalties explained with an audible and easy to understand delivery. And, he sounds remarkably like Rod Blagojevich. When he talks, just picture the Gov. on a work release program. The guy is awesome.

Make sure to have your driver not double park the Bentley and don't forget the Grey Poupon.

Wait, that's for the GW folk.

Hey, I get it. Like the LZ fans two years ago who said "hey, what the heck is this place, I thought you guys had money"

Let me get this straight, the closest parking is a half mile away? Then a half mile walk to the school?

Parking at the train station has its merits. Very easy to get out afterwards, the visitor tanks are small but site lines are good. And the brats are tasty. Not as good as gately dogs but one must sacrifice from time to time,

I just drew it up on the Map my Run program and it's only .43 miles. And if you're coming up from the south you will be on that side of the tracks any way. Park in that lot and walk. It will be faster than driving across the tracks and then searching for street parking that might not be there. Now that you know what to expect, you'll be fine.

If any GE or MC folks feel like slumming after the GW-MC tilt, MCHS-Kaneland could be an interesting game and starts at 3. For the MC folks, it will be fine, for the GE folks, have your security detail stay with your Bentley at all times.

There is a wine tasting / meet the sommelier after the game and my tailor says he is just divine

Besides, my valet won't cross 355, sorry.

Completely understandable, my good man. Try the Lafitte 83 this weekend. I know I recommended the 82 in previous threads, but as you know, 82 was a treacherous year. My sincere apologies.

Park in the neighborhood, that's what I always do. Easier.

Wild,

Yeah but the neighbors get a bit cranky with the traffic especially real close to the building and filed house.. fFor those who haven't been to GBW, its a really nice neighborhood and a nice lake right near by but the parking lots will fill up real fast for any real big game. There is a Starbucks and a few small quick restarants near the school. There are also a few bars, but they are restaurants to.

I parked near some of those 2 and 3 million dollar homes just north of GBW a few yeas ago to get a senic view. if you are interested in seeing some bautiful houses with Bentleys and Astin martins, look to the north neighbrohood.

I live about 150 feet from Duchon and walk to the train daily. If it rains, the driver/butler takes me (I don't have enough money to have two domestics, so he does double duty). Anyway, from that lot to the field will take no more than eight minutes. And, yes, it is downhill. That said, it is uphill when you head back to the car. And I am hoping that you will be walking with a heavy heart after the game. ;-)
