Yeah, I agree on those, especially Sazerac and Rittenhouse, and especially for mixing.

I was thinking more of step up and even more expensive ryes. But would like to hear about everyday bottles too.

The Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye is really smooth and pretty inexpensive, under $30 for sure. There was a special version of Sazerac out late last year or early this but I could never find it.

I just recently bought Michter’s US #1 Single Barrel. Dang good and moderately priced. Makes a good Sazerac cocktail or Vieux Carré.

I love rye. Drink it abd scotch almost exclusively, as far as brown liquor goes, I don’t think you can beat rittenhouse or old overholt for 5 times the cost.

Taos Lightning .. not available in OK but you can get it at Total Wine in TX.

I think I just have to try that Whistle Pig 15 .. the 12 is tasty

Just ran across the 10y on sale for $60. Worth it, or stick with 12+yo?
That's a good price for it. I personally prefer the 12 over the 10 or the 15. But it is all personal preference. However, I'd add the 10 year to my bar for that price happily.

I intended to reply to this and forgot. Everything Michter’s makes is excellent. I love their American whiskey. Like liquid butterscotch. Another reasonable bottle that is really excellent is Dickel.

I’m not trying to crap on other expensive bottles. Everything mentioned is really good, but for my palate not good enough to pay double or triple.

If I can get the image to work...

Thoughts? That's a lot of money, but it is suggested retail.

Really like the Whistle Pig 10 year single barrel I received recently. It was a gift so price was not a factor for me, but I can’t say enough good things about it. Haven’t had any of their others yet, so I can’t speak to the 12yr etc, and I haven’t had a ton of Rye period.

The American is excellent and IMO stands above their others (which I also still enjoy). My order of preference for the Michters offerings is:
1. American

2. Rye
3. Sour Mash

4. Bourbon

Can’t recall if they are distilling their own at this point or not.

Picked up a Michter’s rye today based on this thread.
I saw like the whole range of Whistle Pig today. $84 for the 10, $115 for the 12 and $225 for the 15 at Ranch Acres. Are those prices typical? They normally have pretty good prices. They also had another Whistle Pig expression called Farm Stock. I don't remember how much it was.
