I know there are ways around it like paying someone for a second job or service but it is at the very least unethical. I know years ago the Morehead booster club gave a former state championship winning coach a car. It was a a "gift." Rules were put in place after that to prevent future such occurrences but people do get paid to work camps, etc. With these new NIL rules in place I guess money could come from lots of places.

You sound like a bitter ex-coach to me.
You sound like you think you know me but yet you never replied to my last post about you assuming. You seem to have an axe to grind with who you think I am so why don't you just speak your mind. Or you and I can just not speak to one another on here. I won't comment and expose who you are, and you don't comment on my post. Let me know which route you want to go. Have a great day.

For the record I live in eden and havent coached Morehead.

Whichever you want is fine with me! Just so I know, why is it funny that the job was turned down again? If you live in the community surely you want them to be successful. Maybe you should apply.

I think it's funny because we have done this to ourselves. The parents in Eden ran off Crouch in 2007, After producing three winning seasons. Community members thinking they know more football than the coaches and telling the AD who he should hire. MHS has made hire after hire of people who were using this job as a stepping stone. I want them to be good, but we have no one to blame but ourselves as a community. I respect the Reidsville program because they hire their own, J. Teague, Robertson, J. Teague, and now E. Teague. Although they are a rival, I would like to see E. Teague be successful and respect the administration for promoting and rewarding loyalty.

Sorry you got offended by me saying "haha" the joke was about someone turning it down. I feel terrible for the kids in the program, but the adults around here are reaping what they have sowed.

I will apply when you apply, Deal?

Oak hill certainty did leave with a loss that day, Those early 90's years will basketball were amazing. Football con the conference in 91 and 92 I believe but ran into Cummings in the playoffs. It looks like basketball is making a comeback the last couple of years, they are improving, wrestling won the regional this year and had two individual state champions. So if they hire the right coach they could make a run next year for the dual. Football certainty should be better than it has been, hope whoever gets the job wants to be here for a while and invest into the program long term. That team needs quality and consistency.

I don't necessarily agree. Yes, Morehead's history in basketball and wrestling have definitely been better than other sports but as someone has pointed out baseball is doing pretty good. I can remember when MHS baseball was as bad as anyone in NC but coaches like Pete Cunningham and Jeff Roberts Sr made it better. Jeff Jr. (God rest his soul) took it up another notch and now Houchins is got them rolling.

My point is MHS can be good in more than a couple of sports. Football is one of them. True, they are in a tough conference. Not many will surpass Reidsville for awhile but now that the Panthers are competing full time in 2A, the athletes are there to consistently wins 7, 8 games a year. I believe someone else on here has said same.

When was the last conference championship Morehead has won in baseball?

I personally dont credit this current coach for this recent Morehead success....I credit a kid named Anderson Nance who throws in the low 90's with a hammer of a curve who is committed to NCST for the reason they are relevant

True enough, I won't disagree w that. Remember, I'm the guy that said if you had pitching ..................

Although it should be the ultimate goal I'm not necessarily talking about the Panthers being a state championship contender in football. Honestly, other than those few years in the 90's basketball there hasn't been all that. Wrestling is really the only sport that has been dominant on the state level. I just know that year in and year out there are enough athletes that competing for 2nd in their 2A conference should not be an issue. ;)

The Morehead game was the first start for freshman Ray Ray Butchee after because starter Eric Teague broke his jaw the week before in a loss to Andrews and Andrews was coached by Reidsville native Derrick Anderson in his first game as head coach.

This is honestly quite sad. It really shows that no one at that school truly cares for this program. If they did they woulda hired someone by now.

It's a shame, Morehead has the talent there.
