i disagree with most of morgs post
but to find any racism in his post is just looking for anything and everything to call it racism
That’s Twitter for you. There’s some good stuff on twitter in regards to business and actual tech news (not big data and Metaverse) but a lot of it is also idiots and extremists.

Exactly. I get why people don’t like Morg. He’s extremely outspoken and can be a bit dramatic at times, but he’s just a very passionate fan, and from what I’ve seen a good dude. Hell I wish I still had some of that passion for UK basketball at times.

Along with the handwringing scolds like yourself.

And to the OP - "thinly veiled racism" is so much crap. It's BS like that that got Trump elected in the first place. People are sick of being called racist for everything under the sun.
The other problem is people still say and do some really racist garbage these days too.

But it doesn’t help when people call everything racist. Because when that happens, at that point it’s Boy Crying Wolf and then NOTHING becomes easily discernible as racist.

Not exclusive to this site...not sure why you're so angry these days though
I had to cross train at work in a customer service role recently. I can tell you that people are complete @ssholes when they know it's a 'soft target' like someone at work. Because everyone is a keyboard warrior from the safety of the internet, they now will act that way to a stranger face to face when they know the employee can't do anything about it. I had multiple people try very hard to get me into a verbal altercations, just like on social media, because they've just become accustomed to it. There's zero repercussions to venting your ish onto a stranger that can't defend themselves, and even apologize! I can't believe there isn't a spike in workplace violence all over the news. Man, people are @ssholes! Society sucks right now.

Nah. Most of the stuff in the news is a hoax. The Bubba Wallace 'event,' even last week the N-word written on a school bathroom wall - the school nearly shut down before they found out who did it - turned out to be done by two black kids.

Can’t be racist since that poster said a couple of years ago that he was about to marry an African American girl.

Memphis fan (he said he graduated from there) that hates Calipari and UK and wants to make UK fans look dumb? Seems obvious. Racist? No.

According to what?
Statistics, common sense, and the thousands upon thousands of stories about the background of most of the kids playing college sports. Broken homes, 75% born out of wedlock, no fathers in the house (and often no mother either), growing up in crime and violence ridden areas, etc. it’s pretty simple if you don’t ignore the facts.

Right? I had never heard of MBG until this thread but, my God, how pathetic does your life have to be to start a Twitter page criticizing posts on message boards? That’s like people that watch other people play video games.
Probably some of Barney's flying monkeys, just like the ones they send here.

A great deal are hoaxes but there’s also still a good amount of real bigotry out there. Is it widespread? Nah. Is it still there? Yep.

Actually, I’ll rephrase that. I don’t think he hates UK fans. I think the goal is to turn as many UK fans into bitter haters as he can. He’s done a good job and has a following of pitch fork-carriers.

It’s because some of those little crap heads have never had to work with the public before. I’ve always said that after you graduate college (or high school) you should have do to one of the following: serve 2 years in a military branch or 2 years of customer service some where (like fast food or big box). Would solve a lot of damn problems in how people treat each other.

Having worked retail in the past, I can absolutely attest that some people just get out of bed wanting to be an ******* to people. I didn’t use to believe that. But I do now.

People are just jerks sometimes. Had a guy tailgate me half way home yesterday. I was already speeding myself. Dude HAD to be doing 100-110. Ridiculous and of course not a cop in sight.

Pick your fights, but there ain’t nothing more satisfying than seeing one of those mental giants have the crap kicked out of them.

Just be kind. It’s free to do and it’s really not hard.

I'm not going to assume anyone's motivations on this board, but the "black men grow up without male role models" is a legitimate dog whistle that some people use. Something can be supported by statistics and still also be a dog whistle depending on the context. Like you said, people still say racist crap and it's often hard to distinguish what someone is really trying to say, especially over the internet.

Not an ounce of anger. Mostly fed up with the back and forth between the two "sides" of Cal. I don't like politics at all, but this dynamic we now have with Hate-Cal vs. Love-Cal fans is very much like Red vs. Blue in politics. Ugly, agitating, confrontational. I don't do well with constant confrontation or very loud, insulting debate styles. I guess that's bringing out more irritation and not anger.

What’s false about that statement? Most don't have role models, or good ones anyway. Facts don’t care about your feelings.
I'm not the one who made the racism accusation, but I do think saying "most" don't have role models has a bit of bias behind it. You shouldn't look at any individual person and think "you come from X demographic so I'm going to assume Y is true."

And saying they don't have role models is just incorrect. If the assumption is a lot come from broken homes that doesn't mean they don't have role models. Mothers, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, etc. can be just as strong of a role model as a father. Saying that a kid can't have any positive influences in their life just because they come from a broken home or single parent household is not accurate.

There are no absolutes, but I stand by what I said. Most do not have good role models. It’s sad, but it’s a sad fact. See my subsequent post in this thread.

You have no way to know this whatsoever. You're conflating growing up in a broken household with not having any role models. To say that most kids that come and play ball for UK do not have role models is just a blatant assumption.

I don’t get these guys who get their jollies off by playing message board cop. A well-known member of our board got called out by MBG, that’s something we should be allowed to freely discuss ..especially on a day when absolutely nothing else is going on in CBB.

The threads not hurting anyone, let it be.

Take out the trash. I also wonder about people who get their 'jollies' repeating the same crap over and over again.

you trying to call others racists when you referred to Memphis as ''memfrica"?

great white savior who has been indoctrinated to see racism i

You didn’t graduate college because of what I presume is racism!

Try spending a month in a truly racist country & then see what you think of America

Racism is the new hustle

…but today’s message board warriors love to try to sniff out “implicit” racism wherever they can.

Yea. I’ve been called racist simply

Ah. I see we’re back to every thing being racist.

Everything is racist because it’s quicker

looking for anything and everything to call it racism

People are sick of being called racist for everything under the sun.

race screamers.... cancer of society.

And did you seriously just quote like ten people and call them trash? Nice.
I didn't ask for them to be executed, Ms. Melodrama. The trash, in this case, are those posts. Although if you self-identify as trash I won't hold it against you.

Name calling now too. Real classy of you.

Those posts didn’t call anyone out firstly and were an open discussion about general society. And yeah, I forgot. That’s being shunned in modern America. And no. Before you go there. I’m not a GOPer or a liberal. I’m just sick of the bull crap.
