Not sure if they're offended or just mad because they can't use it.
It’s a vile word meant to demean. It shows ignorance when a White or Black person says it.

Country music is so fake and one-note at the moment that it’s a disgrace to the artists that came before – as many of them have said publicly. It’s basically a bunch of frat boys trying to out red-neck the others, singing about trucks, river banks, old dirt roads, cranking down the windows (haven’t power windows been standard equipment for a quarter of a century now?), long-neck beer, and a weirdly pervasive trend of calling females “girl” over and over — and not in the same way The Temptations sang “My Girl” or Gavin Degraw crooned “I’m In Love With A Girl”, but the way you might call your dog.
Want to make a buck with a new country song? I'll give you this one for free:
Driving down a dirt road drinking me a beer
I’m in my 4X4 truck pulling my old John Deere
Just picked up a farmer’s daughter, thank God I ain’t *****
She’s in a tank top and daisy dukes.
Hank Williams on the radio ain’t no fluke
But I’ll damn sure be in church on Sunday
Thank the Lord for being country.
Now, throw a heavy fake twang in there and you'll have a hit.
