NFHS not professional broadcasting at its finest, but if you can't make it to playoff game(s), for $9.95, can't beat the value in that ticket.

I get it, intermittent broadcast disconnects are vexing, overall gotta love the amateur elements of the broadcasts, it's not so perfect and reflects HS football.

Loyola Marist Game - it's what you would expect, Comcast 100 paid-for announcers, it had a professional feel to it, and so was play and talent level of game. Just what you expected.

Sterling / MCC Game.

It was best surprise game of weekend and special props goes to Sterling's NFHS broadcast booth play-by-play announcer (even though game was in Woodstock?).

Edgy thread for Sterling / MCC leading up to game has to be voted most entertaining thread of week.

For all sniping about The vaunted MCC Clay-Sogged Watered-Down Doctored-up Peat-Bog Field, loved that the field was a bit sloppy, both teams had to adjust, got dirty and muddy, just like the classic old-school games.

The missed fumble call in end zone by referees (in favor of MCC) was a big one that ultimately was big, but didn't decide the game. Props to Sterling fans for not dwelling on it.

Even tho Tv announcer was a "Sterling Network" guy, he was a very likable chap, stayed for most part impartial, surprisingly good broadcast voice and called a good game, he got choked up after game ended for his Sterling team, quaint small-home-town pride, it was HS football at its finest.

Color announcer hysterical (not knocking the guy, just saying his enthusiasm was contagious). He could have been a stand-in for Chris Farley on SNL as Motivational Speaker, living in a van, down by the river. When Sterling missed a key play in Q4, could hear him yelling in headset mic, over top of play-by-play guy, ... "GOL-DANG-IT!!!."

Icing on cake, were post game interviews with Sterling players in "Broadcast Booth." Booth was essentially two steel fold-up chairs in a plywood box that resembled a duck-hunting blind. Replete with Motivational Speaker greeting each Sterling player into broadcast-booth camera-view with Donald Trump's now-famous simultaneous handshake / arm pull / back slap. Don't know which element the Sterling Players were more stunned by, being in front of TV camera, or being greeted into Broadcast booth by larger-than-life Motivational Speaker.

Great weekend of playoff games, but if I have to vote for most entertaining broadcast production on a shoe-string budget ... my vote goes to Warrior / Cane match-up this weekend.

They were awful. I want my money back. Are you a PR rep for NFHS or the IHSA?

glad to know you enjoyed the webcast on goldenwarriortv.org. a lot of work goes into the productions and there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work as well. best of all, the entire operation serves as a fund-raiser for the sterling hs athletic booster club and benefits all sports at shs.

I was impressed with the production that included replays.

The highland feed had two camera angles but “faded” into each feed when they switched instead of the standard hard switch. That was weird ... but not bad. Did not listen to commentators during the MC/ESL game, but I handed my ailing father the phone to watch - she smiled, turned the phone around and was looking for wires. He was impressed with this technology he recently forgot about.

Well, If retired, no income, and desperate to supplement social security with a part time IHSA / NFHS position, just so I could afford to buy a six-pack while watching weekend games? I might might consider the career-opportunity you mention.

Like I said, if you can't make it to the games, then for $9.95, if you get a live feed that doesn't break transmission more than a dozen times, ain't too shabby

Rita / LZ game wasn't broadcast and other games at that time weren't appealing. so Sterling was my fill-in game. so yes, it was surprisingly entertaining considering the options.

Recommend taking your gripe to NFHS about broadcasts that don't meet your quality standards, they give immediate refunds if you email them.

The rebroadcast of the NC vs MS game on NFHS is eight and a half chopped up minutes of football. Maybe the broadcast was fine in real time but if you're going to charge people for product, deliver it.

Crusader, have enjoyed your posts for quite some time. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Lost my Dad to cancer a few years ago and had to standby waiting for inevitable. Hope you can stretch every moment remaining with him, it's a gut punch when it's over, but fortunate you still have some time.
