I think many of you are over-reacting, and not considering the impact of Lowe's injury. That isn't the only issue/factor, but it is a big one.
I would love to return a core of Moreno, Johnson, Chandler, Jelavic, Williams, Dioubate, Noah, and don't forget Hawthorne & even Potter, and hopefully a healthy Lowe.
I think JQ probably plays 2/3 of a season and goes pro.
I would not be surprised if Williams and/or Dioubate leave, especially if we add Stokes.
I don't think Lowe will leave if we add a good PG, seeing how not having a 2nd one this year is hurting us.
1) Moreno could be a 1st team all-SEC player next year
2) Johnson I like, it's just figuring out his role. I think he will benefit from not competing for minutes w/ Oweh, and could be our leading scorer.
3) Chandler, you have to like how he's progressed. Even just a small step forward next year would be good #3 or #4 option.
4) Jelavic, has shown in flashes that he can be a good well-rounded player. The 3pt shot needs work, but this is his 1st year in American style ball, I think he could make a big leap next year.
5) Williams is another trying to figure out how he fits in, and is struggling w/ consistency. I want him to succeed, but he might opt for a change in scenery and more guaranteed PT
6) Dioubate is a nice slightly undersized PF on the interior. His outside game is worse than thought. So is he able to improve that weak area, or does he go to where they are happy to take the bad w/ the good.
7) Noah, you see improvement from last year, I think he continues to improve each year, but yeah he has a lower ceiling than most, but I certainly see him as a contributor the next couple years
8) Hawthorne was getting raving reviews this summer, just super thin. So maybe it just depends on his ability to add some strength. Hope not another Collins (who I saw play the other night I think for South Florida). But will try to be optimistic for him.
9) Potter, not a rotation guy, but he's 7'0 and has some ability. Add some strength and he could be an adequate (injury) fill-in.
10) (not mentioned above) Garrison, he currently brings next to nothing to the table. UNC was one of his better games, and he gave us 2-3 good minutes out of 9. I'll take my chances on some random hungry mid-major big transfer as a backup C.
What that group is missing is "that dude", a guy like Wilson or Boozer that can put you on his shoulders and carry a team for a half. Is it Stokes? A transfer? IDK, but needs to be someone.
