We found $240 laying on the ground outside of Joe's Pizza in West Village, NYC. Just scattered all over the place...no telling how many hundreds of people walked over it.

We stood there for 20 minutes or so waiting, then decided it was ours. 'Free' Michelin* meal followed that evening.

Bout 10 years ago my wife curbed out a wheel on her car and I needed a new one. Dealer wanted $175 so I checked craigslist. Dude had one in Cincy and said he'd meet me at Florence mall y'all. I looked at the wheel and gave him $20. As I handed him the money I spotted something behind a truck just to the side. I picked up a $20 bill. He said we should split it. We did not. Timing made it one of the best finds I've had.

Seems everyone went to money and ignored some other obvious choices. Just to name a few quick ones that come to mind.
  1. A lot of Native American artifacts on plowed fields on the farm and local river bottoms.
  2. Some pretty cool rocks in the karst geology.
  3. Some cool flora/fauna species.
  4. A substantial Lepidoptera collection.

Found a wrecked Coors truck. Driver was ok and waiting on a wrecker. He said we could help ourselves to whatever was laying in the woods because it was less he would have to pick up. I was a SR in HS, it was 5 in the morning and myself and a buddy was going deer hunting. We filled up my car and took it to his farm and returned with a tractor and flatbed trailer but the troopers had already showed up and ran us off.

$100 bill, PX parking lot near military bank in Giessen, Germany, 1988.
$40 (2 - $20 bills) about 6:30 am one morning near a bar while walking to the bus stop last year.
$20 bill in a ditch down the street from our house last year.
$20 bill near the Virginia-Tennessee state line on Bristol Rd, Shawanee, TN about 3 years ago. Next day, I found a $5 bill in the same area. Both times while hiking to the beer store. Somebody probably had their window rolled down and the $ blew out.

How about y'all?
Add:

$50 (2 - $20s, 1 - $10) this morning near the same bar, around the same time and on the same weekday as the $40 find above.
$20 bill on the grass in front of a Payless shoe store around 11:30 am this morning. The find happened during my weekly hike to the grocery store.

Add: $32 (1-$20, 1-$10, 2-$1) this morning. $12 near the usual bar where other finds have occurred. $20 in a semi-vacant lot. We experienced high winds yesterday and last night.

I was at the San Diego airport and sit down to wait for my plane. At my feet was a bulging billfold. It had three cashier checks each for $10,000. 4 one hundred dollar bills and a few 20's. Also several credit cards plus personal identification, etc. I took it over to security.

A turtle his life was highly valuable, btw pretty sure law states that since money cannot be personally identifiable if you find it it’s legally yours if someone claims it’s not

I found Ameila Earharts bones once. But I tripped and they fell into a pothole that was immediately covered with blacktop.

I found a $50 and a $20 on 2 separate occasions. The most valuable thing I probably found though was my stepdad's stash of porn. For someone who was in their early teens at the time, that stuff was about as valuable as gold. Nowadays with the internet, a stash like that isn't worth much.

Back in the late 70's I worked at a self service gas station and somebody dropped a wallet with no ID and almost $500.00 in it. A couple hours later somebody came back looking for it and, I, being honest gave it back to them. They thanked me but didn't give me a nickel for being honest. Back then that was almost a months pay.

Another time, when I was a cart pusher for Meijer, I found an envelope in a cart with $120.00 in it. I kept that.

Found my 6 year old brother being swept out to sea in the Atlantic when I was about 13. Hit me right in the Johnson as he was being pulled out from the beach. Little **** learned to swim soon after that.

Back before cell phones, I was in a phone booth and found a wallet with about $300 in it. Had his drivers license in it, I mailed it to him. Could have mailed me a few bucks back, but no. *******.

Also, I received TV Guide for about two years after cancelling, does that count?

I found some items once that would have made John Walker and Jerry Whitworth jealous.

Biggest PITA I ever went through.

One of the reasons Hillary will never get a pass from me.

Found a winning $50 scratch off in the parking lot of the Kroger I worked at in high school. I was 16. Punk *** 18 year old I got to cash it for me kept $20 of it.

Found a CD case on the side of a country road in the 90s. It had about 20 CDs and a small bag of pot and some papers in it. Smoked the weed, kept the CDs I liked, pawned the rest.

Judicial Watch just found Hillary Clinton's missing e-mails. More than 30,000. Right in Obama's White House. The U.S. should hire Judicial Watch and give the CIA and FBI to Russia

I've found a few wallets and was able to track down the owner but never looked to see how much cash was in them. It wasn't my money so I didn't care. However, the most money I've ever found was a $50 bill on a small road that I would run on in Illinois. based on the surroundings some kids must have stopped and fired off a a bunch of fireworks and one of them must have lost the bill out of their pocket. The wife and I had a nice dinner from their loss. [thumb2]
