I've never been into it but I am a little fascinated by the whole thing right now. It seems that Harley is having a very hard time staying relevant with younger riders because everyone associates Harley with the boomer generation. It will be interesting to see if Harley has a big resurgence in time and becomes "cool again" like vinyl has.
Harley didn't, until recently, build a bike small enough for beginners other than the ugly Sportster. That's their problem with the younger generation. Plus the new price is astronomical compared to most Japanese bikes.
I ride a 84 Honda Shadow that I've had for 10 years. Well, at least it started life as that, now it's been hacked, cut, welded, taken apart and put together more times than I can count, painted 4 or 5 different times. I think it's ugly AF but everybody seems to love it wherever I go. It's definitely one of a kind.

Saw my first one in Lexington the other day. Joking aside, it's a sweet looking machine, but I imagine guys on real bikes are just laughing.
I think they're pretty cool cars. They don't get laughed at nearly as much as a guy riding one of these
I'm old enough to remember that particular color scheme from the 70's, as I had a YZ125D (the first monoshock IIRC?) and was a big fan of Bob Hannah.
I don't trust the way people drive enough to ride, though I grew up riding dirt bikes (had a Honda MR 50 when I was 5, last bike was a Yamaha IT 175 with plenty of 3 and 4 wheelers mixed in).
My one pet peeve is riders who don't think speed limits or traffic rules apply to them. I try to be courteous, but hard to watch out for a moron going twice the speed limit weaving through traffic.

I've never ridden a motorcycle and with my messed up back I probably can't ride one comfortably. Plus I'm lazy and would want an automatic and that is probably just as likely to be made fun of as those 3 wheeler ones.
I currently have a 97 Honda Magna, I went to the KY bike rally many times when it was called Little Sturgis, if that is what you're talking about. Got some great pics and vids before it got too tame. Haven't been in a few years. From what I understand, you can still get good pics and vids; you ust have to work harder at it.
You don't have to do much to get good pics other than walk around. It was still pretty wild. There was more people than ever but it seemed like there wasn't as many people cruising cruising around on their bikes. Probably safer that way, just not as exciting.
I have friends who own Harleys but there is no way in hell I would buy one. Most are owned by an accounting clerk who thinks he's a bad *** as soon as he flings his chubby little leg over it. Harley is all about image, not much else, and reality has beat the crap out of it.
As for myself, I've never been big on road bikes but I really like that people are restoring some of the Japanese icon bikes like old Z1s , Yamaha specials, Honda cub, etc. I personally would love to have a CB 360 or 400 because they were popular when I was a kid and have been looking for a good example.

Something about that little two-fingered salute that motorcycle drivers give one another enrages me with the fury of a thousand burning suns.

Thinking about all those Yamaha names from past... Hannah, Broc Glover, Mike Bell, Pierre Karsmakers, Heikki Mikkola... I'd love to be 15 again in 1978 and just ride all day until I ran out of gas.
Those were the days. Never had more carefree days than the ones I spent on my dirt bike all over the mountains and hollows.
He'd be the only one. Us bike guys might love it, but if there's a chick who loves it, I'm probably gonna pass on her. You know, unless I'm pretty sure no one would find out about it.
