Why didn't you post the news? I don't give myself any title or insinuate anything. I am not the star news.
I think NH will make a decision soon and it may shake some things up.

Port - I was told earlier in the week that Coach Turner had accepted the Ashley job pending Board approval. I just assumed you knew as well as my sources were from Hoggard. I did not post anything because I think it is up to Coach Turner and Ashley High School to make the announcement.

You have proven to be a good source of information on this site and I do believe that you are well informed. I took from your "shake up" post above that you had some specific information. If so, I was wondering what it is.

NHHS is certainly going about their business quietly. I can appreciate that. I expect an announcement in the not too distant future.

I thought the New Hanover job and Ashley Job had to be posted for a specified time. I thought NH job posting ended today.
If so, how does Ashley hire a coach before the posting time is up? I could be wrong. Anyone know what the time frame is for the postings?

wildcat78, doesn't open choice apply to coaching too in New Hanover county?

That is a little odd now that you mentioned it, but from discussions on this board about the New Hanover County school system ... Maybe not

The School System is the Wildcard in Athletics in NH county. May be that each school can make the posting period different????

Ashley names their new coach on Friday and all is quiet at the New Hanover. Any new names? Is Paul Hoggard really interested? Isn't today the last day to apply?

My understanding is Ashley didn't even post the job. I am hearing that NH is starting interviewing this week. No word of a timeline that I have heard. I'm sure they want to find the best candidate and get him hired soon. I can't imagine that Hoggard has applied for the job. Have not heard though.

Did appear that Hoggard had a lot of negative posts towards the end of the season. May be he needs a fresh start. Don't know.

Two years to retirement why leave Richmond unless you plan to live in Wilmington after retirement which I doubt. My idea would be an assistant or HC job in SC after his retirement. I will say this is non story.

I think Hoggard is a great coach and I would think he would love to stay at RC for years to come but I have heard things are getting pretty bitter in some parts of the community. That gets old FAST!
I don't think NH would be on his radar after he finds out the pay.

That's just part of being the head coach in RC...Believe me Hoggard is thick skinned and tough.......He's been through all of this before.....The Raiders will be stronger than last year......Along with Coach Hoggard being the leader as long as he wants...nuff said......

That may coincide with his thirty years in the system. I expect he leaves once son graduates and he has thirty years in the system.

Port City,
With Turner going to Ashley and apparently some other assistants looking, is this an indication of Braswell's intent to retire or go to SC? I know his coaches were loyal to him so just didn't know what this was indicative of?

From what I am hearing Turner leaving had nothing to do with Braswell staying or leaving. I have not heard much about Braswell. He is sending out his normal info to returning players preparing for next season. My gut tells me he stays.
I am hearing that NOrth Brunswick coach my be retiring at the end of the school year. If so 5 or the 6 wilmington area schools would have new coaches over the past two seasons. If Braswell retires as well it would be 6 out 6. Never saw this coming.

No way. He will get the Hoggard job when Braswell steps down. That should happen in the next 1-3 years.

Sure about that? My understanding is all the assistants were told they would not be considered as Braswell's replacement and are looking elsewhere. May be just rumors. Time will tell.

Even if that is true, why in the world would a principal be stupid enough to say that to their own football coaching staff?

Maybe because there were 5 head coaching vacancies in the area? Just guessing. If they were concerned about the assistants careers. I would commend a principal that would do that, if that is what happened. Don't know.
