If he's 1,000 percent it would be ridiculous to play him vs. UNI. Of course, it's ridiculous to be playing UNI at all.

We should be playing a weaker Big 12 team in our recruiting region as a non conference game each year. Dump the UNI and similar nonsense unless it’s simply our 1st game

1- everyone plays FCS teams.

2- by simply playing ISU, Iowa has the 2nd most P4 games of anyone in the Big Ten. Only behind Purdue.

3- These games are needed to get other players into the game in a culture where most players have 1 foot out the door, this is a good way to make people happy and a way for our coaches to help develop players from footage other than practice.

4- the FCS schools would not have athletic programs if it were not for these games.

5- we HAVE to work out kinks and gain confidence. These games SHOULD (certainly don't always) help with that.

6- We have to guarantee 7 home games a year to make money.

All that said, I'd rather play two bad G5 teams than any FCS team.

If Doll couldn’t even get a single carry yesterday we will never see him. His next carry is probably coming in an Iowa State uniform.

Hayden loved playing and beating up on the bad teams. Yes, he played the occasional Nebraska, UCLA, Colorado, etc when he thought he'd have a good team. But for every one of those, he'd have 3 god-awful teams to play. Hayden, as a psychology major, was big into beating up teams to build confidence and he believed that confidence breaded confidence. It's also why in practice he never played the 1's vs the 1's.....it was always 1's v 2's or 1's v 3's so that his starters could build confidence.
