Idk they played Franklin pretty close in a scrimmage and Franklin is supposed to have a big year.

This was coming from people close to the program. Some even think they won't finish in the top 3 in the MAC.
Still 17-2 in the 4th. All in all this has been pretty much a defensive game with reynolds getting a couple of scores vs Brevard with a couple turnovers and a lot of 3 an outs. Both are definitely down this year theyll probably get better as the year goes on id say both teams will probably be .500 kinda teams this year play well in spurts and there youth will show in others and thats for both squads
I think they end up in 3rd bc Erwin or Enka aren’t real impressive either but they will most likely get steamrolled by both Asheville and TCR.
Maybe I heard wrong, and opinions are subjective, but I heard Franklin pretty much did whatever they wanted.
I can’t speak to their line play because I saw them in more 7-on-7s but I’d say their speed is average. It doesn’t jump out like some of the players on Asheville and TCR. I didn’t see speed that you have to gameplan for.
The Brevard QB got hurt in the 3rd quarter was taken by Ambulance after a 30 minute delay.Don't know how bad but it didn't look good.
Line wise they looked pretty small i was watching the game on hudl the tackles had some size guard and center looked small but also both tackles for reynolds had a lot of costly holding penalties for reynolds. 17-2 final if not for some costly turnovers that put reynolds in great field position for the 2 TDs this is a one possession game. So I see some positives for the devils considering the crazy off-season of coaching change and transfers
I watched it on YouTube and the final was 24-18 but I think Franklin subed a bunch of their starters
No one likes losing but kudos to Brevard players and coaches for battling the way they did! Unfortunately it looks like another starter was lost to injury but the most important thing is Brody’s health and recovery!
I hate to hear that, if you get an update on his condition please let us know. It's going to likely be a tough year for the Devils. They're a prideful bunch so they'll play hard but they just don't have the talent or experience, I'm afraid.
Swain @ Franklin has formally been cancelled due to Swain not having enough healthy players.
I noticed Friday that they only had a few extra and one or two got hurt.Usually Swain has big numbers but not this year.
Cane, I love my mountaineers and we are playing well. But IMO the conference runs through you all and smoky. That being said…GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!
Smoky may give Franklin all they can handle. Tuscola looks like the 3rd best team in the conference, I was dead wrong on them.

5 interceptions and 1 fumble for Pisgah. At times it literally just looks like we’re throwing the ball up and praying. Young team that’s underperforming. Hopefully, we can improve the situation but not playing good football in a lot of areas right now.

Young is back but his backup is out for the season. We beat East 41-7 but it was 41-0 midway thru the second Q & we pulled the starters. The conference will be a challenge this year, but some teams I didn’t expect will contend. Let’s try to give this thread some legs. No reason to go 2 weeks without a post!!!
Who was his backup? Paxton Sutton? He’s out isn’t he?
Yes that’s correct, we have a Soph (Hernandez) who will step up now hopefully.
I think if you all play clean ball Smoky is a winnable game for you for sure. I’m not taking anything away from Smoky but our offense is putting our defense in a lot of bad situations and then we’re not tackling well at times and allowing big plays to bust open. Almost all of our interceptions, were floated or ill-advised passing decisions so it wasn’t like it was lights out defense. We’ve made two teams look better than they actually are the last two weeks.
***Edit*** This really isn’t an attempt to diminish either Smoky or Enka’s play just saying our miscues have greatly played into the results or scores being what they are. IF we play clean, we’re better than Enka and IF we play clean, we are on par with Smoky. If you don’t take care of the football, you can lose to anybody.

Enka is better than they have been in years.That was a game we could have won .Enka has good chance of winning every game except Asheville and TC.Smoky will most likely end up second in conference. The Bears need a win to gain some confidence and should win the next one.

One major reason I think Tuscola will do well against Smoky, is that Smoky isn’t flashy or overly explosive on offense and Tuscola has done a really good job team tackling the last few years. Some of their video this year looks like that is continuing. As a coaching staff, they must make that a focus at practice bc they do a good job of multiple players to the runner and that doesn’t happen by just shear luck. We need improvement in the area of tackling because that’s where many routine plays have busted for long gains for us.
Yes, we most definitely need a win to boost the confidence of our boys.
