Aliens.

Why did Weyland-Yutani send soldiers into Hadley's Hope when it could've explored the entire colony (and taken everything it wanted) from orbit with drones?

Idiots.

You can’t just interject something into a movie that isn’t established. Why didn’t they use drones? Because there were no drones to use.

Someone tried to sell me that Lord of the Rings was the best movie of the last 20 years.

I laughed at them. I openly and viciously mocked them. No Country for Old Men. That’s the best movie of the last 20 years.

Bear attacks happen when you least expect them.

Don't joke. Be prepared.

So Weyland-Yutani can build uncanny human-like androids and can traverse space, but it doesn't have the same drone tech that we have in 2022?

My vote goes for

Never seen The Big Chill or St. Elmo's Fire.

Masters of the Universe. Man was it the **** when I was a kid and it came out. It's pretty terrible if you watch it today.

It is terrible, but I still love it though. I actually own Classics Blade and Saurod.

I only need Jitsu, Kobra Khan, and Stinkor to have all of the Classics versions of Skeletor's crew.

My phone camera sucks.

I mean you can ask a lot of common sense questions in almost any movie. The marines walking into an Alien trap in "Aliens" doesn't make it a bad movie. In fact, it's one of the GOAT sequels ever.

The greatest examples of movies that don't stand up to time, is anything that used CGI in the late 90s and into the 2010s.. on top of that all these cheesy-ness and over-the-top situations. Think of the last 2 or 3 Pierce Brosnan 007 movies. Where he's surfing on a damn iceberg wave? Gross.

I love time travel themes - and the trailer looked strong
but I wound up walking out.with about 30 more min's to go in the film

It was really disjointed in terms of pace -
And they kept over emphasizing the immediate romantic attraction that 2 of the characters developed -- but than angle added nothing to the plot and came across as forced & diluted the story

One that just didn't AGE WELL is Salem's Lot - the made for TV special that's about 3 hours long from 1979
When I saw it as a kid it was terrifying

When I watched it again years later with my wife laughing at how the floating vampires looked --
I just felt a little cheated

That Bond iceberg scene's about ten minutes in.

You’re looking at if from the perspective of 2022 and not 1986.

A lot of the John Hughes movies are becoming dated (but also, some are still classics). Any movies that focus on adults are still classics, like Uncle Buck or Planes Trains.. but the ones centered around kids, especially Molly Ringwald.. starting to show their age.

Weird Science might be the best (worst) example of showing age. 80's computer code making a female? Anthony Michael Hall now having the "too cool for school" persona? Hell, I don't even find the main girl attractive these days.

You can say that about any movie centered around teenagers or kids though. Eventually it’s going to look dated because people grow up, the world changes. But some themes are always going to be universal when it comes to those types of films.

We were out to dinner the other night with a friend and she asked my wife if she watched Euphoria. She said no because that show isn’t made for our generation. It’s about what this younger generation is going through and while she might find some connection to it with her own teenage experience it wasn’t made for her.

That movie was about the pointlessness of war.

I think it said pretty well what it meant to say.

But the book was so much better and the movie failed to live up to it. I know this is almost always the case but it really stuck out with this one.

You don't find 1980s Kelly LeBrock hot.

I don't think Avatar is holding up too well. The CGI is starting to get dated (or at least become matched), and that's about all the movie had going for it. It was just a ripoff of Pocahontas.
It is the highest grossing film of all time and seemingly nobody cares that the sequel is coming out next month. I haven't even watched the trailer. Snooze

Mah. It was a straight up ripoff of Dances With Wolves.
And Ferngully. And Pocahontas

Ally Sheedy was hotter in the Breakfast Club before they gave her that stupid makeover.

The thing about the Breakfast Club is a lot of people think they’re Bender when they’re actually Brian.

Not me of course. I was a Bender.

Weird Science came out before I was born.. her look in weird science is a complete turnoff. Give her a makeover that's more suited for the 2000's and sure.

And by the way.. Wyatt in Weird Science has to be one of THE most annoying characters, up there with the likes of Jar Jar Binks. That high pitched shriek.. "but GAAARRRYYYYY!" .. ugh. His dad had to be someone in Hollywood.

I think "Salem's Lot" is still awesome, the best"scary" vampire movie ever.
James Bond movies from about "Moonraker" on have been terrible, the Brosnan movies especially. Only two exceptions are a very underrated Dalton in "License to Kill" and Craig's "Casino Royale". The Austin Powers movies haven't aged well and in that vein, I always thought the " Wayne's World" movies were never funny. "Dodgeball" is funny but Vince Vaughn mailed that performance in, I mean he is completely subdued and just looks like he would rather be anywhere else but in that movie.

This will be a controversial take and for the record I still love this movie because it was such a part of my teenage years. But I watched Caddyshack a while back and it didn’t hold up well.
