Masters of the Universe. Man was it the **** when I was a kid and it came out. It's pretty terrible if you watch it today.
To be fair, Masters of the Universe probably didn't hold up well in the 1990s. That'd be like me choosing Howard the Duck. It was probably bad to begin with but when you're a kid, bad really doesn't exist.

There are a ton of movies I loved as a kid that I've rewatched on Netflix and what not. I was such a stupid kid.

I either had great taste as a kid, or it was **** then and it's still **** because I'll watch all of these now:
Rocky IV
The NeverEnding Story
Pee Wee's Big Adventure
The Mighty Ducks
Heavyweights
Maximum Overdrive
Over the Top
Airheads
the unofficial Conan trilogy (Barbarian, Destroyer, Red Sonja)

you done crossed the line by saying Airheads doesn't hold up

Oh, it holds up. I think the only ones from my list that don't are The Mighty Ducks (lawyer gets a DUI and his community service is to watch over and coach hockey to a bunch of random kids) and Red Sonja (legit awful but showcases that odd 1980s creativity).

Try watching Mighty Ducks 2. I watched it randomly sometime last year on Disney+. Rag tag team of misfits gets picked to represent team USA against the best in the world. Imagine if the next Olympic basketball team was the Indiana high school all stars vs the rest of the world. And giving the random DUI coach a big ole contract.

Oil drillers save the world. The eco warriors would rather the earth be destroyed.

Space travel is so easy. Just look at how often we pluck random people out of crowds and send them to ISS. Most scientific discoveries in space have been made by roughnecks.

I feel like comedies are usually pretty topical and don’t age that well. Saw the hangover the other night and chuckled a couple times.

Hell, I don't even find the main girl attractive these days.
I'm with you in 2022(62). But, in 1985 she was pretty hot.

Deb(60) and Hilly(58) still look fun(for my generation😄) though.

You can say that about any movie centered around teenagers or kids though. Eventually it’s going to look dated because people grow up, the world changes. But some themes are always going to be universal when it comes to those types of films.

We were out to dinner the other night with a friend and she asked my wife if she watched Euphoria. She said no because that show isn’t made for our generation. It’s about what this younger generation is going through and while she might find some connection to it with her own teenage experience it wasn’t made for her.
Do you think they could make a movie today that had a crotch shot of a 16-year-old girl today, let alone the guy under the desk making a move towards that crotch uninvited?

For the times, it was fine. Today, that scene never gets made. Probably not the movie, either, unless the nerd kid did something other than bring a flare gun to school.

You probably watched Caddyshack 2 by mistake
That movie is entertaining just because it’s spectacularly bad. Everything sucks, the acting, camera work, editing, even the sound. It’s a Bizarro masterpiece.

My latest disappointment is Red Dawn. I loved it years ago but it’s pretty lame now. Lots and lots of holes through the whole story.

Matt Reeves's Batman is such an incredible detective that he doesn't even bother to investigate

the apartment across the street from the Iceberg Lounge where the pics of the mayor were obviously taken from.

Not gonna lie, I'm a big physical media guy and I think I have The Mighty Ducks trilogy on dvd somewhere around here. I used to have the first two on vhs in the '90s. Nostalgia's a dangerous thing.

Someone tried to sell me that Lord of the Rings was the best movie of the last 20 years.

I laughed at them. I openly and viciously mocked them. No Country for Old Men. That’s the best movie of the last 20 years.
If we are including documentaries, Idiocracy is the best movie in the last 20 years..

I don't think Avatar is holding up too well. The CGI is starting to get dated (or at least become matched), and that's about all the movie had going for it. It was just a ripoff of Pocahontas.
Never saw it. Or Titanic.

A movie that is still fun to watch after all these years is Diehard. My kids liked Little Big Man and Good Will Hunting. I am interested to see the original Papillon again to see if it holds up.
