OSU game is over. No complaining about coaches, players, or refs will change that. Moving forward: PS was helped in the late games when Clemson, A&M, Pitt, IA ST, and K St lost. PS is now playing for one of the final 8 playoff slots. PS must win out to stay there. As it looks today, the BIG has 4 teams in (Ducks, Bucks, Indy, PSU). The SEC has 3(Dawgs, Horns, Vols). ACC has Miami and XII has BYU. Boise St will be G5. ND is in place for one. That leaves one slot for all the others to fight over.

Just a thought:

One missed FG and recovering one onside kick and Vandy could be leader in the SEC clubhouse.

Need Bucks to beat Indy by 8 plus to move us into BIG 3 slot to have a shot at hosting a game.

I saw a projection last night of PSU hosting Boise St. in Round 1. Win out and we’re in.

That'd be fun, but I'd expect Jeanty to go off for 150+, based on 11 straight runs yesterday when we knew they were coming.

Don’t look past Washington. Will next week‘s White—Out have the smallest and most unenthusiastic crowd in the event’s history.
Yes, and the lowest viewership. Ppl without Peacock will be wondering if there was no whiteout game this yr.

But thank goodness they'll get to watch ND dismantle FSU.

If there are FB gods they will have FSU pull an upset.

The real rankings will be out on Tuesday night,
Exactly.
The "polls" are utterly and completely meaningless from Day 1 - but it takes until the first "committee" rankings for most fans to realize that.

PSU will fall further in the committee rankings ("falling" from their poll rankings) than most folks are anticipating - lack of any notable wins will do that.
PSU was helped GREATLY by Clemson, Texas A&M, Iowa State, and even Pitt and Kansas State all coming up with a loss yesterday. If not, PSU could have very reasonably slotted in at 10-11ish on Tuesday (All five of those teams could have, with a win, made at least a reasonable argument to be slotted above PSU. Though I expect only 1 or 2 of them would have actually come in ahead of PSU). As it is, I expect the committee will slot PSU in around 8th or so - and safely in place for a 1st round home game - assuming they win out.

Of course, a lot of movement will take place over the month of November, but PSU controls its destiny vav a home game in the 1st round.

Excellent point…huge PR and recruiting loss for PSU.

Thanks Sandy!

Dawgs v Rebs game this Saturday is possibly an elimination game.
For Ole Miss it is. But, UGA will not be eliminated with a 2nd loss considering who they’ve played. Actually better for PSU if UGA wins out.

LSU/Bama will be an elimination game unless there are more Saturdays like yesterday.

I believe OSU will handle Indiana, which helps us.

I think the original poster is overlooking a few teams, though. Iowa St. has 1 loss and a relatively easy schedule moving forward. If they beat BYU in the conference championship game, that leaves 2 one-loss teams there. SMU only has 1 loss and could beat Miami in the ACC championship game (unlikely), which would leave 2 one-loss teams there.

Teneessee stills plays Georgia later in the season, so one of those teams will have 2 losses. A&M plays Texas, so there is a second loss for one of those teams. There is no guarantee that the SEC gets 3 in, in my opinion.

Bottom line though, we have to win out, and it wouldn't hurt if we look like we are the best team on the field in these next four games, which we clearly will be.

A&M has two losses…

I don’t think you read the original post too closely. I did not rule out teams, I said they would be fighting for the last spot. I also don’t think you understand the dynamics of college football today. The SEC and BIG rule. If they don’t each get three teams in, this playoff will get scrapped for something more favorable toward them. The SEC will probably be screaming if they don’t get four in. A one or two loss non conference champ from the ACC or Big 12 will most likely get passed over by a 2 loss Bama. As for A&M they already have 2 losses but one is out of conference. If they beat TX, they will have a shot at the SEC championship. I do agree PS has to win out or their chances of getting into the CFP are slim.
