I was on the sideline when there was a bench clearing brawl before half. That was back when the Pilsbury Throwboy was pitching for Kentucky. Should be a good OOC game.....definitely not a cupcake.

Not a fan of this game if MTSU still plays like they use to. Don't want to play schools in the OOC game that cut blocks all the time and tries to start **** nonstop. Hopefully they don't play the same style as they did back when we played them before.

In short, no. A lot can change in 15 yrs.

But I think the comments are funny. I was an ATC for Middle during the 2002 yr when we played in CWS. We certainly didn't cut block more than anyone else. Now, back then they certainly did have some bad eggs. We had a number of guys that we were recruited by much bigger schools but that were rejected due to grades, bad behavior, gang activity, etc. There was actually a bunch clearing brawl before halftime that yr. Basically one of Middle's DE's was mouthing to a UK olineman.....the OL retaliated physically and it escalated quick from there.

MT and UK played again in 2008. MT lead for 3Q and almost won. Without incident or problems. There was virtually no cut blocks in Mangus's offense in 2008. In fact the team as a whole that yr was kinda soft and could've used a nastier edge to them.

Now their offense is a Ferrari. It's lethal up-tempo and versatile. They will put video game numbers. They've been one of the better CUSA teams since they joined. They certainly aren't a cupcake and shouldn't be overlooked. It will be nice for Stoops to get the train going really well before they play.

MTSU has changed a ton since then. They have a new HC first of al that they did not have in 2002. The new HC has done a great job and has been at MTSU a good while now and is taking them to bowl games almost annually now. They would have won 10 games this year (IMO) if Stockstill did not get hurt at QB.

Thanks, I would have suspected as much, no need to go into the game expecting the worst.

Sounds like jurich may have modeled his programs after their 2002 team, LOL.

I was at the 2008 game vs MTSU. They threw a Hail Mary as time expired and completed it but fortunately we tackled them at the 2 yard line. The entire stadium let out a big sigh of relief

Yes, a crazy finish. I worked at the MTSU campus library back then and got a few F U looks and comments the next day I worked the next week (Always wore my UK hat around campus lol).

Rick is from Georgetown

Oh, well, kinda. He was born in West/Central Ohio but spent nearly his entire life in Florida......played QB at FSU under Bowden. His time in Georgetown was only a couple of yrs in his youth.

Central Michigan and MTSU are fine but this scheduling of FCS every season is awful. Not saying put a Power 5 on there but there has to be another Group of 5 willing to come here and accept the monetary reward. And I am well-aware a bunch of other SEC schools schedule FCS and that should stop, too. IMO.

The main problem with trying to schedule a non-P5 school is they all want a home and home, whereas the FCS schools are here for the payday. I agree nobody is excited about going to CWS to watch us play a FCS school, but as of late it seems like those teams give us a game. Hopefully we start taking care of business with these lower level teams and beat them like a true SEC school should. Once we get our roster at the depth the staff feels comfortable and we are constantly winning games, I think you could see us scheduling better teams in the non-conference.

I went to school with him and little league football with him.

That's what he told us when he was hired. We were all standing around chit chatting asking about his background shortly after he was hired. Someone asked where he was from and he said, "Near Jacksonville....well, I was born in Ohio but grew up in Florida." Then he went on about playing for Bowden, etc.

At a later press conference a reported remarked about him being from Kentucky and that "how come he didn't grow up a basketball coach?" To which he replied, "I didn't live there for very long. I was born in Ohio and grew up in Florida....both football states."

I'd rather go to 6 home games than pay to see another FCS team.

I thought we had a 2 year series with Eastern Michigan beginning with a home game in 2018, and a road trip to Ypsilanti in 2019 !

Not scared. The MTSU teams we played previously were cheap shot taking, mouthy, cut blocking ****bleeps****......
