Another terrorist attack on US soil by a Muslim. How many more are we going to tolerate? I thought 9/11 would change things but it didn't. Boston Marathon attack? No. Knife attack in Oklahoma City? Garland, Texas? Nope.

He attacked our soldiers in a gun free zone. How utterly stupid we are.

Yeah, this is horrible. However, we have Americans killing innocent Americans everyday. This attack today is not even close to comparing to 9/11, or the 1993 bombing of the WTC. Nor is it close to the 1995 OKC federal building bomb, which was terroristic and was AMERICAN.

Gun free zone? Do tell.
Generally all military installations are federal property/buildings and thus "gun free". In the military, even on base you don't have access to your weapon. They are locked in the armory and ammunition is at the ammo dump.

Unless they outlaw all guns which they can't do, they are going to need to relax or at least federally allow CCWs. This state by state **** is not working. We need full reciprocity.

The one recruiting station was located in a mini strip mall, not sure about the other one. So the one location wasn't a "gun free" zone. Agree with your federal reciprocity comment as long as minimum mandatory safety and training is required to get the permit (like it was in WV, I'm a permit holder btw).

It's been verified. No guns allowed. It's a Federal property.

I'm more than ok with required training. I don't even agree with the military waiver. I think you need a least 2 days worth of training. 1 for classroom and 1 for hands on and live fire.

Actually inside the recruiting office, yes. On the strip mall property, no. Look at the picture below. There is a recruiting office in the Huntington Mall. I can carry concealed in the mall. Do you always like to just shoot off at the mouth without thinking?

The military waiver should only apply if you were qualified side arm and have the certificate. I mean especially if you earned your marksman ribbon on the nine mil. WV used to do this when I got mine but I think they changed and now everyone has to at least have the online training. Not really sure why you can own one with no training but need trained to conceal it though, seems like it should be for both.

The dead soldiers were inside Federal property and unable to carry weapons. What part about that fact do you not understand? They were sitting ducks.

My point was, and it's one the right wingers like to put out there any time we talk about guns, the strip mall wasn't a gun free zone and citizens, like you and I, could have came to the rescue of the Marines with our sidearms.

In your post, you tried to make it sound as if the entire area was a gun free zone and you were pointing out that massacres like this just happened in a "gun free zone".

I pointed out correctly that the assassination happened on Federal property which is a gun free zone. I did not state or imply that the entire mall was gun free. We have knows for years that radical islamists are targeting military facilities. Yet, we have changed nothing in regards to soldiers being able to protect themselves while on Federal property. Maybe this will wake some people up before more of our men and women die needlessly.

There is actually some confusion developing in regards to the Post Office and Post Office "property". You can't carry in a Federally owned Post Office, and recently a judge ruled that extended out into the parking lot as well, however there is a grey issue now with regards to Post Offices that are in strip malls, etc.
We did build-out for a recruiting center here, in a strip mall, but that's never stopped anyone from carrying to the stores right next it.

It is a shame however that soliders aren't allowed to execute their 2nd amendment rights in such situations.

Until they can get people trained - place MP's at the locations...I would assume they are trained and good to go.

MPs at each recruiting station seems like an impossible task. I'm surprised there were no guards at the reserve station though.

I don't think they have guards at Reserve centers. Now, they may have to do so.
