Proving murder "beyond a shadow of a doubt" will be VERY difficult, if not impossible.
However, proving the fraud won't be.
Sentencing will ensure this unhealthy fat ******* will die in prison (probably voluntarily).
It's a sad story of the end of an influential lowcountry family. His father and grandfather would be disappointed and ashamed.
His son Buster, will escape with what's left of the family fortune (if anything) and should probably move away to another state to start over.
The standard is beyond a reasonable doubt, so not quite as difficult as beyond a shadow of doubt.

Is Buster still around? He has managed to stay out of the spotlight. How I have no idea. He has to be in hiding.

I’m surprised that Murdaugh hasn’t been Epstein’ed. You can only imagine the dirt he has on other prominent people in politics. Fortunatly for him- he apparently never had a Clinton or Biden over for any if his shenanigans.

Even though I think Alex is a not so bright piece of crap crook. I don't think he is so sinister that he could personally shoot and kill his own wife and child. Now I do think he could have paid some thug to kill both of them and in his warped reasoning feel that the blood would not be on his hands.
Keyzer Söze did it.

I think Alex will be convicted of the fraud charges and probably get prison time. The worst punishment for him will be having to live the life he is going to live from now on compared to the life he led before. He lived like royalty in his own little fiefdom where he controlled most things around him and had basically unlimited funds to do as he pleased. When he gets out of prison he will be broke, he will never be able to practice law again and he will be a convicted felon so his options for employment will be severely limited. Unless he has managed to hide a large sum of money somewhere, and the clumsy nature of his crimes doesn't lead me to believe he is some sort of evil genius, he is going to live a life of meager existence when he gets out of prison.

Alex is 64 yrs old and not in great shape, spending 10 years in prison might be a life sentence for him.
He was born in 1968,, he's only 54..

If he gets off on the murder charges, I understand that the embezzlement , fraud, etc. charges will stick and put him in prison for a lot more than 10 years.
I think with all the counts he could face like 750 years IIRC

Why wouldn't the State ask for a change from Walterboro to like Spartanburg, Chester, etc. Where most of the jury pool would not have had some type of contact with the Murdaugh family. Or still try the case in Walterboro but pick a jury from an Upstate County.
