I thought this was one of the "tougher" defensive front 7's Murphy has had in a while. They held their own against the offensive lines from Robbinsville and Swain, which are games that so called "toughness" has to be shown. My opinion is worth less than 2 cents but looking over the numbers, the offensive point production vs SMC teams is where the dropoff occurred, much more so than 'toughness". Discounting the 54 points scored on last place Hayesville, the Dogs never broke the 28 point barrier this season in the other 6 games vs an SMC team. That's just not championship caliber offense. A good murphy team will usually avg at least 30-35 ppg vs the SMC. Most Bulldog fans Ive talked to realized Murphy was probably a "year away" from being championship quality. A 10 win season with a young team is nothing to be ashamed of. Yes it hurts to go out in the 3rd round to a fellow SMC team, but I think Robbinsville was probably a touchdown better than Murphy on avg and the scores of both games reflected that. As for next season, I think all murphy fans hope that whatever spark was missing on offense returns with a vengeance and some scores can be settled in 2016 and beyond. 10 wins is good for most teams, but I think the magic number "16" is within reach in 2016. Expectations are always thru the roof for the Bulldogs every year, so why not set the ultimate bar if you have the players and coaches to do it?
