Well with Andrews having 3 of their biggest lineman out seemed to be the downfall tonight. No excuses but not enough depth to overcome. Murphy also had 2 of their biggest lineman out also. Our kids never gave up and come up short on a very questionable call with one ref signaling a TD. For a in county rivalry both teams played a clean game and showed great sportsmanship to each other. Tempers flared at the end but was directed towards the officials. We will regroup and try to get healthy

Andrews played a great second half, great effort tonight from your boys. Good luck the rest of the way. Shame about the two player ejections and injuries for ya'll, with the way the Wildcats played the second half I think you could've gave Swain a game next week.

Man! It sounds like it was an awesome game over in Cherokee County! You have to have mad respect for a little school like Andrews to keep it that competitive. I just hate that it ended in such a fashion, flags flying everywhere it sounds like. I wish we could review that play.

WTVC Ch.9 from Chattanooga has the video of the last play on their website. Looks like the ball popped out on first contact.

Thanks Knine. It took a while but I found it and watched it. It was hard to see all from that angle. I suppose the Andrews coaches thought he had broken the end zone plane prior to losing the ball?

Class act when you see those Murphy players trying to console the Andrews players right after the fumble. Obvious that both sides played their hearts out.

Couldn't tell a thing with that video. The question is did he cross the plane !! Thanks mbdfan. Was proud of both teams on how they showed good sportsmanship. It was a clean game. Good luck to you also. Maybe we can meet again in playoffs

Andrews hung in there the entire game and nearly pulled it out. Both teams struggled with their offense. Andrews turned the wic up on D in the 2nd half which gave them the oppurtunity at the end. Ball was clearly out, as to whether he had crossed the goal line, camera angle did not show that. Tough loss for Andrews no doubt. Murphy was extremely fortunate to leave with a win. All the momentum was on Andrews side on that last offensive possession.

On QB sneak, that goal line is cheese in a mouse trap. Hard to teach them not to reach for it.

Even harder when you turn on the TV every Saturday and Sunday and see all the college and pro players doing it.

Great hard fought game by both sides , Andrews played the best ballgame I have seen since the 20-18 battle with the Bateman brothers at the hill in the 90s .Good luck to the Cats the rest of the way they are gonna make some noise come playoff time . Dogs are gonna have to right the ship and they will , good coaches and the talent is there .This is one of the youngest teams I have seen Murphy field maybe ever and with young kids you get growing pains .

Unless I'm wrong there were a few times last night Murphy had 3 sophomores and a freshman in the backfield. Very young Murphy team. Andrews gave Murphy all they wanted in the second half. They're a good football team. I understand them being upset but wished they didn't have all the ejections at the end. Hope that doesn't hurt them next week. Andrews still has a chance to pull off some big wins this season.

Hopefully it's a wake up call for Murphy. No layup games the rest of the way...they will need to be focused and play as a team the rest of the way.

Yeah I agree, but there's only so much you can do when you have 7 starters out, and that's especially the case when many of them are likely done for the year.

It's one helluva a bad hand to be dealt, almost impossible to overcome at a 1A school. Yes, every school has injuries but not many to the degree Murphy has had the last two seasons.

If there is a positive side to this, it's the fact that the kids who do have season ending injuries are not seniors. Another positive that you can point to is that these injuries have allowed some young players the opportunity to get meaningful playing time. So when the currently injured starters do come back (whether it's this year or next) Murphy will be a deeper/better football team as a result.

A week off should help somewhat. Just curious to see if Murphy will continue to run the offense using both #4 and #1. I personally would like to see one or the other be chosen to lead the way into the playoffs and go with it.

I see what you mean about 2 good QB's but what a problem to have. Just a outsiders view. Good luck the rest of the season

Some view that as a good problem to have. In my opinion, and probably many others who choose not to voice their opinion, it seems to be a "good" problem thats becoming problematic. With 3 games left in the season, I firmly believe Murphy needs to establish a QB. As far as which one should take that role, thats a decision Murphys coaching staff will make. Im just voicing my opinion on the situation, not which player should take that role.

I totally understand. My view for many years has been put your best players on the field or court. I don't believe in seniority in HS sports. It doesn't matter if your a freshman or a senior. Both kids are great athletes and I'm glad I'm not the one that would have to make the decision
