Thomas Jefferson was probably the best team we played last year..them or Murphy . Not sure who graduated but was by far the fastest linebackers we had saw..TJ is not used to the line play or physical play Murphy will bring.
It was 0-0 in the 3rd qrt last year against us. Their defense surprised is. We beat them 28-14

I think Murphy was better last yr. It's hard to get up for a game right after play Murphy. TJ linebackers were better than Murphy by a little but Murphy line was alot better than TJ line. TJ wont be able to stop 73

I agree. I saw Rville play both Murphy and TJ. Murphy was better. Didn't have the athletes TJ had of course, but not as well coached as Murphy. TJ was very good though. Their wide receiver was the best looking athlete I saw last year for any team. Should be a close game.
I think alot of people are off base about TJ, I watched them play Robbinsville the last two years and two years ago they were decent but last year I thought they were the best team Robbinsville played all year and that ballgame was not a blowout, so I think TJ stands a very good chance to upset Murphy.
Agreed. Robbinsville wore TJ down in Avondale in 2018 and dominated that game in the 2nd half. But in 2019 TJ was a good mobile QB away from winning at Big Oaks. That game was 7-7 in the 4th.
Murphy contain the passing game then this one shouldn't be too close. I think the dogs will dominate line of tj so tjs only hope of pulling off an upest is if they can throw the ball all up and down the field. With that said.

Both LB’s are back this year. They also have a huge addition who will hit stick the hell out of you. Tough team but very one dimensional. Stop the run - you win. Yes, the “4 star” WR doesn’t do anything on offense.
I feel bad for high profile kids sometimes...no matter what they do it’s never enough to some people. 3 catches for 76 yards and 2 TDs their last game, and 9 catches for 173 yards and a score the week before that. I wouldn’t consider that nothing.
That's true, but that still doesn't change the fact that the kid is a better looking athlete than anyone in the SMC. If they can throw to him he would probably be deadly.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but between these two coaches (Gentry and Cash), they have an incredible combined win total of 777 games! Unless my stats are incorrect, Gentry is the all-time winningest coach (422) in NC high school football while Cash is #2 in active wins (355). Expect both teams to be well prepared. I'm expecting a close, defense dominated game. Turnovers will decide this one. If TJ can take care of the ball, they could pull off the upset. My prediction: Murphy pulls out the win with the home field advantage 17-14.
I'd love to see the strength of schedule for gentry's wins vs cash's.
Actually, most of Coach Cash's wins came from playing in much larger classifications than 1A (Jonesville SC, Riverside, HS, Chesnee HS, and East Rutherford NC). I wouldn't call Shelby and Burns easy games. In fact, he was the last coach at East Rutherford to beat Shelby.
TJH and Murphy both appear to be good football teams will not see a 1st round game with 2 teams this good for a long long time. Home field advantage could be the difference, but I am sure the winner of this game will play either Robbinsville or Mitchell in state semifinals.
Maybe on FYN TV. They have submitted paperwork to the state to air it. If you’d check your freakin texts you’d know that.

Check the NCHSAA website later in the week. They usually list every approved broadcast for playoff games.
If the game is shown on FYN beside the website on a computer, smart tv or an app on a tablet or phone. If you have a Roku on your TV you can add fyn app on it and watch on your TV I assume you can probably do the same with any streaming device chome ,firestick etc but I know you can on Roku that what I have .

Which way are you coming in? If through the gorge Monte Alban and Hoppy Trout Pizza in Andrews are good. Most of the stuff in Murphy will be on past the high school, but Burger Boy is around the corner from the school and pretty good. I will second Julie’s, but it’s about 5 miles east of town off 64, and out of the way unless you’re coming over the mountain and through Hayesville on 64 instead of the gorge.
Coming from Asheville...thought about stopping by to make my annual "donation" to the Cherokee Nation and then come down 19 through Andrews. Burger Boy sounds like a great option...much appreciated!

The Murphy casino is smaller than the one in Cherokee but still big enough to take your money. The one in Murphy is right off the highway. Much more convenient. It will save you 20 minutes drive.
