Robbinsville should be the team to beat in small 1a next season. They will make some noise this year too and could win it if they get a few lucky bounces.

Robbinsville and Murphy should both still be very good, but Mitchell should have one of if not their best team next year. This year has been a pleasant surprise and really a year ahead of schedule, so even if we lose to Murphy I dont think many people will be highly upset as it has been a better than expected season. Now next year all the pressure will be on Mitchell to finally get over the hump as we only lose 8 seniors this year and really only 3 or 4 that are key players.

Ok guys you have run away from the major point here! How and when are we going to find all those missing kids? I bet they are in the old skating rink.

Robbinsville still has to replace their QB next year just like Murphy. Both have very good QBs coming up but I also think both will have the normal sophomore struggles.

Rumfelt will be the best QB in the conference by his junior year imo, but I agree sophomore year there will be the usual growing pains. Murphy will be a tough out by the end of next season though. Rumfelt, Murray, Dorsey, Rathburn and McCracken is still a very fine starting skill group and the lines should be very good. I worry about safety and outside linebacker the most.

Murphy numbers according to NCDP last year.

Jr. class 123
Sophomore class 144
Freshman class 144
8th grade at Murphy Middle 103

Tarboro conversely would have added up to 541, and Tarboro has 557 as an ADM. Like I said, I have nothing against Murphy. But that's straight from the NCDPI last year.
I see what your trying to say but how many kids drop out every year and how many families leave the county and how many decide to go to Early College. We live in a rural area where the median income is very low. The Early College is wonderful for families because after they graduate they have two years credit towards college. It’s very reasonable to see how your figures of 514 dropped to 470 in the ADM. Three years ago in 2015 when my son was a senior Andrews High had 280. This year we have
209. We also live in a area where we have a lot of Fla people move into our area just to realize they are no jobs or this slow pace of life is not for them. I was a Real Estate agent and I’ve seen them come and go.

Okay let me play along for a minute and ask you this question...

Everyone and their great grandmother knew Tarboro was a beast last year too, so if Murphy is manipulating numbers and ducking them, then why was Murphy in the 1aa playoffs last year??

Hey brother I’m just throwing the official numbers from NCDPI out there. I have nothing against Murphy. They play my kind of football - hard, physical, fundamentally sound, and with class. But I mean that was what the numbers were last year from the state.

Then that’s great and that’s fine provided those numbers are still calculated in if any are allowed to play sports at Murphy. If just one plays any sport, then the total of the enrollment from the kids from that school has to be totaled in.

This has been covered at least 30 times on here. Tri County Early College is it's own school with their own athletic department. Right now they have track, cross country and some individual swimmers and golfers. As the schools grows I'm sure more sports will be offered, assuming interest and participation dictate it. None of the students at TCEC play sports at their "home district" school, they are not eligible to do so. How many times does the same thing have to be repeated?

So with 106 last year fr-jr at 106 and a new fr class then those numbers could certainly make sense now since no kids from there play at Murphy

ADM's are crazy all over. How did Carver go from 741 students last year to 583 this year. North Rowan went from 605 last year to 527 this year.

So what I am hearing you say is that Murphy is a trendsetter and leader in 1A football. Is this a compliment? So out of character for you.........

should be big A next year ,some of the kids we red shirted should be good enough to count next year , plus all the transfers coming in.
Should have been 1AA for decades, look at the size of Bryson City, Rville, or anybody in the SMC compared to the size of murphy. What a joke.
