Guilty pleasure time: Iggy and The Stooges "I'm a Man" (check out the Muddy Waters version too). Delta blues filtered thru Detroit punk.

More guilty pleasure. As a rockabilly fan, you find it in the oddest places. Exhibit A: Morrissey "Sister, I'm a Poet". The usual spacey lyrics, but the melody is pure rockabilly!

I like playing this video to remind myself that music is music, and musicians don't mind playing outside their usual genre. Chet Atkins and a young Stanley Jordan teaming up for "Mystery Train"

Saw the band The Internet played The Late Show (Colbert) tonight. Gotta give props to Stephen for putting them on. Even tho Syd tha Kyd is Sammy Davis Jr reincarnated as a woman...The Internet is the 2015 version of Souls of Mischief.

I wish I remembered to drop stuff in here more often. Multiple takes here. The second (2:00 - 8:37) is solid. From about 4:40 on is a lot of fun:

As a child of the 60's/70's, I reminisce about the protest/statement songs of that period. Here's an unlikely candidate by an unlikely band. "Heroes", by the Commodores. Probably Lionel Ritchie's best song ever.

Time for some uplifting music. "Harvest For The World". Isley Brothers. Still relevant in 2015

Not many tracks featuring scat singing these days...but Maysa stepped away from Incognito and dropped this little gem on me. "J.F.S"

NSFW or home, or pretty much anywhere in public. Lord Finesse. "Check The Method". If the N-word bothers you, don't click on this link! Pretty much profanity to a beat, but LF makes it work.
