We like you guys (the holdovers left: ISU, SIU, Bradley, Indiana St., Drake) Some of the newer teams aren't bad: Belmont, Murray St, Valparaiso. The thing is, the level we play at now, and even in CUSA brings in more money. So do our donors bring in more money, now that we are at that level. The money is even more necessary these days considering nil. We have been sub par for a while in football & basketball, due to bad coaching hires to start out with, and more recently and secondarily, because of nil.
The first year we managed to find a significant amout of nil, it came too late for the football team to take advantage of it. That was last year, and you saw what that nil increase did for the basketball team. This year I think you will beging to see what it does for football. (It may take two years of decent nil for the football team to catch up though.)
Last year in basketballl, we had a decent team really for the first time since the self era. We had a couple of ok years with Wojcik, and Manning, but nothing like last year. If that money were gone for our football tv deal, it would probably kill a lot of the donor money for basketball. and for hiring coaches. So we would only consider that as an option, if we didn't have any other options left . Dropping down to a conference without fbs football would likely kill the level of our program.
