My 8 year old son's question really stumped me

"Daddy, if you couldn't go for UK, who would you root for?" It really stumped me! I thought long and hard about it and couldn't think of a single team! No way could I ever pull for UofL, Duke, UNC, KU, IU, UCLA. Thought for a second I'd just go for WKU or something. Then I figured, what's the point of that, they'll never compete for a championship, consistently anyway. Maybe I'd just quit watching basketball. Finally after a good 15 minutes, I concluded I'd probably just root for a pro team. I don't want to even imagine a world without UK hoops!

This is absolutely NOT a difficult question. The answer is "NOBODY".

I would have told my son: "Son that's just a really, really, really, really, bad question" ... Now go to your room and don't come out until your 10% tougher!

If we lose, I'm going to turn off the television and go to Disney World.

I couldn't pull for any other team , the crazy thing is that I could probably pick another team in a different sport like maybe an NFL team but I don't care as much about that . I could probably pick another team to pull for like maybe Alabama in basketball but it would just infuriate me that they don't try to be good and only care about football .

The only reason I'm even remotely interested in college bball is if Ky has a chance of winning the ncaat. If they ever decline to insignificance....(not a high level contender for the nc) I won't watch bball at all.

If I had to, God forbid, cheer for only one team specifically besides UK, it would UD. I was born and raised in Dayton so they're my second favorite team. I cheer for them as long as they don't play UK (which is never).

Teams I could NEVER cheer for:

UL
Duke
KU
UNC
IU
UF
UT
etc

UD is harmless to UK so that's another reason I picked them, lol.

As a Football fan, believe it or not, I'd probably pull for UT or ul.....as they are the closest schools that have a chance of being significant in the sport I love.

The Dayton Flyers.

I live in Dayton and go to quite a few of their games each year.

Granted, my passion wouldn't be what it is for Kentucky but that's who I'd watch and cheer for.

Bengals, Reds, UC, Xavier, Bears, Bulls, Cubs and most teams a Wildcat plays on. Can't passionately root for an EPL team or any team in a place I've never been. Makes no sense to me.

Well, if I had to try and put myself into such a tough hypothetical situation, I'd have to say I'd be a Creighton fan. Not sure there's another team that has such a good following from their fans than Creighton does, and they have a pretty nice little arena for such a small school. In fact, if I recall from when we came to town a few years ago, they consider themselves as a littler version of our beloved Cats.

to be honest I think the answer would be nobody. I typically don't watch the tourney once the Cats are not playing. I do like to watch duke, UNC, and UL lose so if I find out they are down I typically turn that game on the get my laugh in for the day.
