My only fear

My only fear is a UCLA type of game where we absolutely bludgeon someone in a game that was supposed to be somewhat competitive, and then go into the next game thinking all we have to do is show up and that team will quit, too.

Say what you will about "this team is too smart for that" or "Cal won't let that happen", but I'm telling you as a follower of sports for 40 years now it is human nature and it has jumped up and bit many "super teams" before us.

Best thing for us would be what Carolina did in 2009....beat everyone by 10-20 points all the way to the finals. No curb stompings.

This team hasn't showed that this year. They're far too focused. They play with great maturity and yes Cal won't let that happen.

I expect a bludgeoning or two, but no way...NO WAY...this team gets overconfident or overlooks any team.

1. Cal won't let them.
2. It's not in this team's makeup. They're too smart and just too damned good.

So far this team is not human. They are not playing for themselves. Until they do, they will be fine. If they do not paly for themselves but for each other they will not be beat.

When we beat Kansas by 32, we led Boston U. by five at halftime the next game.

When we beat UCLA by 39, our next three games were Louisville (8), Ole Miss (3 in OT) and T A&M (2 OT)

The Kansas game wasn't like the UCLA game. It was a 10-point game at halftime. The UCLA game is what I don't want to see happen because when the other team quits against you, you WANT to believe you're that good. As much as I hate Arkansas and wanted us to beat them down, the fact that they battled us to the very end in both games was very good for us.

The UL game was not even that close...and only was that close because of where the game was played.

And UK is not going to be playing Boston U after they ANNIHILATE the 16 seed...I think UK will be focused every game.

Not worried about the 16 seed. We're expected to bludgeon that team. Talking about Maryland or WV in the Sweet 16, then playing ND two days later. Or let's just say Baylor and then Duke two games later.

It's the only scenario where I can see us not winning number nine.
