The likelihood that we are two deep at the 1, 2, and 3 with players who are 6’5” or taller that can handle, defend, and shoot over 35% from 3 is quite small. We are going to have a collection of guards and wings each with at least one clear weakness. It might be size or it might be handling. These are the tradeoffs we make when choosing a lineup.

Very few players have all the skills of ball handling, rebounding, shooting, defense etc. We may get a power forward who is a great rebounder and defender but has little offensive skill. Hopefully, we have another 1 or 2 PF's that have some offensive game. A player like Cameron Mills who was essentially a shooter but poor in most other phases of the game.

I think the 1998 team had the perfect complement of players. Nazr was both an offensive and defensive threat while Jamaal was mainly a defensive guy. Had 1 great player (Sheppard) and the rest were role players that had their strengths and weaknesses but played well together. The end result was a team that was greater than the sum of their parts and the best team in the country not the most talented team.

I think Louisville has lost every single game they have played, for the entire season, to any team equal or better than Kentucky, so yes. I think Kentucky is better than Louisville and I don't think it is close.

Louisville has lost exactly 2 games in 2025, beating a Clemson team twice who is at least is as good as Kentucky. So you are wrong on that front. Kentucky right now is not cutting down any nets and its going to take a lot to make it to the second week. I am speaking on the current state of things. Big Blue is just not healthy enough to make a serios run.
