OK - I recognize that's an odd title, but last night after reading about the fall Signing Day, I had a dream that PBJ was doing the hat dance. Kentucky, Duke, UNC, and UW-M are on the table.
PBJ says: "I've known it in my heart all along, I'm going to be a WILDCAT!"
Kentucky twitter starts blowing up. Patrick let's it go on for 20 seconds or so, then reaches down under the table and pulls up his purple NU hat. Says "I'm taking my talents back to Chicagoland, Go Cats!"
Chris Collins cries a single purple tear, falling from the same eye that saw from 20 feet away Zac Collins clearly reaching through the net, through the rim, to "block" Dererk Pardon. The same eye that saw clearly what three "professional" referees could not.
And so it comes full circle - PBJ goes from Ball Kid at the old Welsh-Ryan, to "The Man" at the new Welsh-Ryan. Cats make their first Final Four in 2022, PBJ goes on to be #1 pick in the NBA Draft and for the next 15 years we get to hear in every NBA arena, "Patrick Baldwin Jr., Forward, from Northwestern University!!!"
In the Welsh-Ryan lobby we hang a huge picture of Pat Baldwin Sr next to Jr. The name Baldwin is forever synonymous with NU Basketball, which goes on to be a perennial presence in March Madness, regularly winning Big Ten titles. Welsh-Ryan is the hottest ticket in town.
A Cat fan can dream.
