You ain’t gotta preach it to me. I am still on Pope, thought that was clear in my opening. I’m just reading the room and seeing there aren’t many of us left. It’s getting smaller and smaller.
You cannot watch the team we had last year and then think what if I spend double that on all role players and have OO as the "star". Just incompetence.

What I find unacceptable are the facts that we didn’t seem to really pursue anyone else and what we paid Pope. I understand that we don’t know everything so maybe they reached out to 10 people before him, but it didn’t feel that way. We also overpaid by probably double. Pope would have come here for much less and honestly, with his experience and resume, he probably should be making about half of what he is now.
I have zero issues with him making that amount if we are winning and making runs in the tournament.
Me too, Bill. The advanced metrics all still seem to like us. Could be a team that comes on late in the year, I haven’t given up on the squad at all. Getting a top seed might be too much to ask for at this point, but improved play can help us get hot at the right time (hopefully).
I just can’t not believe Pope will figure this out. It’s been six years since the last time we had a better year than last year and Pope did it with portal scraps. I still believe the man can coach. Can he handle this fanbase? That’s what worries me about it falling apart. Momentum is a real thing, and morale is a real thing.
Then the rest of BBN sucks. I'm sorry. But this fan base is as bad as the media makes us out to be. I don't like it that we lost these 3 games anymore than anyone else. Pope needs to be better prepared at the start of the season for sure. But my God. It's the beginning of his second season after a pretty successful 1st season despite all of the injuries. I have concerns too but for the fans that have already quit on Pope, well they make me ashamed to be a part of this fan base.
I think we could be good if Lowe is ever healthy, JQ plays, Mo D returns, and whatever the chemistry issues are that get fixed. That said I still think the collection of players don’t fit together at all so I question how good we can be. We look absolutely lost against real teams. That is too many ifs, ands, and buts for me.
Most of the concerns we had early I few are moving along. We need to get guys to be more patient running our stuff. We are not gonna shoot 1-13 from 3pt very often. We were shooting 35% going into that game, which is above average.
I hope so, Kam Williams seems highly overrated for a shooter we brought in, Aberdeen is air balling stuff, Noah can’t get anything ran to get off a shot because of his limitations. Oweh can’t really shoot, Lowe is suspect when he plays, Jelly has a shot sometimes, Mo D can’t shoot. I know Chandler is hot for sure.
I still think that was Pope's biggest mistake going away from outside shooting which has been what worked for him over his career. Now CC is our only shooter.
I agree, get defenders that are average to slightly above average shooting athletes to improve defense.
Kam shot 41% last year on high volume. He’s shooting 24% right now. Chandler’s percentage likely regresses and Kam’s increases as the year goes on.
I don’t know how he shot 41%, his shot looks broken or we get such bad looks he’s suffering. Even in exhibition games and practice he hasn’t looked good though.
Shooters struggle to shoot sometimes if there is uncertainty. Rotation fluctuations, offensive system not being run, not knowing where he will catch the ball. All things that will improve with time. His shot looks fine, he’s just rushing it.
