The CCC has changed so many times over the years and then the MPC 3A came along when those schools moved up to 3A. It has been spread all over the place with mostly Davidson County but occasionally had Forsyth, Iredell, Moore, Guilford, Randolph and Rowan County schools in it. The old YVC and Central Tarheel has evolved many times also. Will be fun to see where all these teams end up and how many splits we see.

When ya think 'bout it, them YVC and Central Tarheel changes show how schools gotta roll with the flow of what's poppin' in their neighborhoods and sports setups.

GSO, I don’t think Thomasville has ever been in a conference with Eastern Randolph.
I feel sure you're correct, Mister Davis, but since those conference reflections/refractions were over fifty years ago, I feel super Blessed to remember anydamnthang. Mrs. Elizabeth Reed of Macon, Georgia , had a great memory, reciting Georgia Bulldog football scores of years gone past, and also of Mercer University basketball scores.

And I, for one, appreciate your musical interludes. More music, less politics, should be the motto of NC Preps. To be honest, wasn’t my memory. Had to look it up.

Now that the first draft is out, I will be considering some of what they did and making some changes and will put out a second draft soon. I like that they tried to make no conferences with 4 classes.

As for Trinity and Wheatmore, I show that is about an hour to Northwood, which is not terrible.

I now only have West Iredell in one conference, which is not the one most wanted. :)

I have posted my realignment proposal for conferences on my web site. It's not perfect, but no plan is going to make everybody happy.

Let me know what you think of it, and if you have any suggestions for improvements, I will certainly listen.

Here is the link:

Why in world place West Iredell in a conference where road games are twice 5he distance of the 4A schools in their backyard??? Bunker Hill, Bandys, Newton, Maiden, all in their backyard.

Just completed my 3rd draft - made a lot of changes in western NC and a few others elsewhere.

It looks good! The only change I can see for the west would be take N-C and Maiden out of the conference you've got them in and put them back in with the other 4A Catawba County schools. You go from the first being an eight-team conference and the latter being six teams, to the first being six and the latter being eight, so no big deal.

Not a fan of the 3A/4A combo that Simmons estimated Tville to go into. Tville sports overall are on the downward trend and that league would be brutal to them in the secondary sports. Not sure they will compete very good in football or basketball either. N and S Stokes are supposedly seeking a closer alignment with the other Stokes/Surry/Yadkin/Alleghany schools. C Central does not want to be in that long travel league (except football). Nobody in that league wants Bishop. Not about football as much as it is about the basketball and secondary sports. Once again, S Davidson, C Central and N Stokes the outlier very small 1A schools may get stuck like chuck in a league that they will struggle to be competitive in. We will see Monday.

If the lower Stokes schools willingly give up a chance to be genuinely competitive in a conference to be the whipping boys for the other teams around here who beat them by 50+ every year then they are stupider than I imagined them being. I get the travel times and all but the NCHSAA has given them a golden goose for the first real time ever in a conference and they are wanting to throw it away. So incredibly stupid. They can schedule the local schools in non conference in every sport and do just fine. South especially would be foolish to give it up, with that RB they have (if he stays there,) he would run all over that conference and have awards out the wazoo. North Stokes would do well vs their old non conference rivals. They'd have chances to get to .500 every year, in the NW they won't ever come close consistently. With their class size they really shouldn't be able to bully anyone around, and if the state caves to that then they are a bigger joke than I imagined them to be.

The only team who has a logical reason to complain is Ashe County.. they are in placed in a league where they'd have to drive to Burke county constantly for no reason at all and that's way too long of a drive for them when natural rivals are half the drive away. I'm glad they are contesting it and hopefully the NCHSAA realizes it and puts them with us and takes the non mountain teams out, but I'll believe it when I see it. If the state really wants parity they'll do it.

I have no idea what to expect Monday. It could be the same joke conferences we had the last time, it could be a hodgepodge of the first two, or in a nightmare situation something worse. It's honestly terrifying.. a lot of communities fates are up to a comittee. They haven't done this process right at all and it's a joke. We shouldn't be this late in the process waiting to see what happens. Schools should be finalizing their schedules and prepping for spring practice.

Just hoping for something good but expecting the worst.

Third Draft will be the final work of the Realignment Committee, but not necessarily the “final” version. Hopefully will be released this week!

They are actually meeting (Zoom) to put final touches on a few spots. Looking forward to getting Third Draft to membership!

The only people that should be concerned with this are the ones that have to create schedules and run the programs and I'm sure they have some things in place and have a solid idea of what is going to happen with the final draft.

A lot of it was in place after the first release. Then adjusted after second release.

Maybe we will get the best realignment proposal that stands in only a month by the NCHSAA's next realignment 2030-2034 using AI (Artificial Intelligence Services) since it is taking them three months to do it this time and maybe longer before it is over and done !

It seems they are running late since they have had a week to make changes for a 3rd or final realignment. ( JUST DO IT )
Each NCHSAA member school has the opportunity to file an appeal of its conference placement. The deadline for appeals is Jan. 28, and all schools wishing to provide additional feedback on the second draft will be heard at the next realignment committee meeting in Chapel Hill on Feb. 3-4, according to HighSchoolOT.com.
