That's what I'm hitting at. It would be nice for Coaches and Admin to be able to focus all their attention on winter sports by Thanksgiving. It's just a watered down experience across the board. Not to mention the really young kids that are getting 8 quarters and moved up to playoffs. Now they have zero time with their JV basketball team and are not developing.

What would that look like? Do we have enough big private schools here in NC? Are there enough to have an east and a west? Is there enough to balance into at least two classifications? In the Raleigh area I believe there are only 2 schools that have over 1000 students - Cardinal Gibbons and North Raleigh Christian. I think Ravenscroft has 400-500.
Still half baked. Pinecrest and Hoke County will NOT be in a 6A/7A/8A league.
Or keep the Union Pines and Co draft the way it is and put the rest of the greater Sandhills into 3 6-team conferences instead of this jumbo cluster
UP is fine with the Lee and Harnett teams. It's the remainder of the Sandhills that needs to be fixed!!!
Those are the only 8A schools in the Sandhills area. If not with other Sandhills schools, where would you suggest they be placed?
If not the Sandhills, then maybe Apex/Apex Friendship/Green Level/Panther Creek. But they can be kept in the Sandhills if set up with Richmond/Jack Britt/Lumberton/Purnell Swett. No need to toss Overhills/Pine Forest/Cape Fear in that equation
Definitely a 7A/8A split conference for Hoke County and Pinecrest. I seriously doubt these schools want to travel to the Cary/Apex area or vice versa.

Cardinal Gibbons and North Raleigh Christian are like the big dogs at the BBQ, while Ravenscroft is the little nugget who forgot their plate. This could totally turn the league into a funny meme battlefield – imagine trying to play tug-of-war with a Chihuahua!

In a 6A/7A split conference with Terry Sanford, EE Smith, and Westover which would leave 71st, South View, Gray's Creek, Douglas Byrd, St Pauls, and Scotland in a 5A/6A split conference

Why would Hickory, North Lincoln and East Lincoln want to drive to Crest, Hunter Huss and Southpoint when the could go half the distance to Bandys, Maiden and Newton? The split conferences make the most financial sense... make travel time shorter, gates bigger and its a win win for the schools.
The two 8A conferences around Wake County didn't really change in the 2nd official draft. Have to think those are probably set in stone?
In the NCHSAA's second draft, Willow Spring and Corinth Holders are in all 8A leagues, albeit, separate conferences. I can't see any changes here. But then again, you never know.

Sacrilegious, but I’m not wasting a non-conference game on Scotland. Need to play top-tier 7A/8A teams.

Sometime U have to play a game for the Gate...That game is ALWAYS A SALE OUT.....AND 9 OUT OF TEN TIMES VERY COMPETITIVE.....I cant imagine Richmond and the scots not playing in football....
Scotland vs. Richmond puts bodies in those seats and those bodies do bring in some serious cash flow ...
I feel you but there is no way Richmond and Scotland not playing coach Brad already said this game will happen throw the adms out the records out weather out whether end of regular season freezing outside or middle of season like it used to be or now in hot days of Aug it will happen.
I agree with y’all, and I know it won’t happen. But the game isn’t what it used to be. The only thing that’s saving it is the gate. Pinecrest is a larger gate now than Scotland.
Unfortunately, based on geographic whining, there are conferences that need to be split but the triangle really isn't one but alas, we still have two conferences splitting 7A and 6A for no reason then bellyaching.
It ain't just Southern Pines either. Pinecrest takes up pretty much the entire southern half of the county
Pinecrest is more of a "fair weather" crowd .. They only show up if the weather is good ... Also, don't forget about Pinebluff, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, West End, and Seven Lakes ...
