First off, This team is so damn fun to watch. So many awesome takeaways while also knowing we will get so much better in the coming months. If Mo is in the game then we can book it that he will grab damn near every defensive rebound. Monster on the boards.

Offensively I love that we have so many big, athletic guards who can attack, create for others, and/or score. At all 3 levels.
I will say I thought we took lots of shots with no pass or only 1. They weren’t being selfish, I just think we have a bunch of confident dudes who are aggressive. That will only get more efficient each practice/game.

It’s a good problem to have, but when Lowe and JQ come back oh man will pope have his work cut out for him. Practices are and will continue to be an all out war.

Mo, Aberdeen, Owen, JJ, chandler, Noah, jelly, Moreno, Williams, JQ and Lowe.

i do think as the season goes this will be the 11 that competes for majority of minutes. Hawthorne will get better and better and get some opportunities here and there, but will be tough to crack that 11.
I know Pope loves Garrison, and he seems like a great young man. But man he is just so limited in his skill set/basketball IQ. He threw 3 passes with no defensive pressure on him
That were maddening and really continue to make me not trust him with the ball in his hands. A 5 in Pope’s offense has to make quick, accurate decisions with the ball and that just goes against his make up as a player. I think as the season goes, especially when JQ comes back, garrison will drop to 3rd in the 5 man rotation.

We will always have someone with a small injury like all the other teams. But it doesn’t appear that any drop off occurs when that may happen. Also Moreno is a manchield

Yes. Moreno looked better than BG last nite for sure.

It was just good all around to see them out there with some live meat on the line. They got cat scratched, those Boilermakers.

Agree that Garrisons passing was atrocious last night. Just can’t have plays like that especially when you are a junior.

I didn’t think BG looked that bad last night. I would say “serviceable.”

I don’t expect a lot from him. But I don’t think he really hurt us last night, and he made a couple plays.

He shouldn’t have much leash this year. There are enough other pieces.

Moreno surprised me. Better early than I thought he would be. He looks up to the challenge. Jasper as well
Yeah, Moreno was better than expected. He got the ball on the post and I didn't expect him to do anything. I said to my son, "He's not gonna be able to do much. He's too weak, too soft, too young." And then at one point he makes a move, goes around, and lays it in above the rim. He also made a couple cuts, rolled to the basket, and dunked. The thing that surprised me is that he's stronger than I expected. He's definitely going to be able to contribute this season.

It was a mismatch from the get go. We have too many superior athletes vs a team like Purdue.
Good start to the season albeit an exhibition game. It almost seemed like Purdue was in slow motion sometimes compared to the Cats.
Lots to build on and improve upon. Pope has some interesting comments after the game but seemed generally pretty happy.
Would have loved to have been there in person. Rupp is back to Rupp again!!

Assuming all get healthy, JQ included, it’s really hard to play 11-12 guys meaningful minutes. That said, it’s a nice “problem” to have. 8-9 dudes play the lions share of the mins. After seeing last night, I feel like the top 7 guys are probably…
Lowe
Aberdeen
Oweh
MO
Moreno
Jasper
JQ

Then it gets messy. Two of Noah, Chandler, Garrison, Yelavich, and Williams need to separate themselves. I honestly think Garrsion will wind up not being as good as Moreno or JQ and I don’t see a world where two are on the floor at once. Chandler has to be better offensively if he gets mins. He wasn’t very good offensively in the BW game or last night. Williams disappears a lot. Again, good problem to have. This team could end up being scary good if all the pieces fall into place.
