1. Maine South- The defending Class 8A state champs still have plenty of talent on hand.
2. Loyola Academy- The Ramblers just seem to reload bette than most year in and year out.
3. Lincoln-Way East- The Beast from East is back on target for another deep run in 2017.
4. Marist- lots of talent on hand for the 2017 season, but can they start off strong and beat neighborhood rival Brother Rice this week?
5. Waubonsie Valley- Death Valley is loaded with a deep roster with a ton of experience.
6. Homewood-Flossmoor- The Vikings also just seem to find a way to reload year in and year out.

My Class 7A Preseason Top 10 poll
1. East St. Louis- defending state champs will just reload this fall.

My Class 6A Preseason Top 10 poll
1. Prairie Ridge- Pretty hard to ignore a team that rolled to a 14-0 state title and returns several key pieces this fall.
2. Peoria- The 5A state champs move up to 6A. I fully expect that Lions offense to not skip a beat.
3. Sacred Heart Griffin- with the addition of Peoria to 6A the Cyclones get another huge pothole on it's way back to DeKalb.
4. Montini Catholic- New coach but don't let that fool you. The Broncos always find a way.
5. Nazareth Academy- No one has as much young talent and/or potential than the Road Runners in 2017.
6. Cary-Grove- No one will hold any tag days for the Trojans. You have to love a CG team with a ton of linemen back in the fold from a season ago.
7. Lemont- The Indians offense has potential and the defense has a ton of talent and experience.
8. Vernon Hills- the 2016 6A runner up proved us all wrong last season.
9. Richards- Seeing junior Sebastian Castro also play quarterback this summer could be a huge boost to an already strong Bulldogs team.
10. Crete-Monee- Still one of the most dangerous draws for anyone in Class 6A.
