What a mess. Thankfully, the rest of the trip was fine.

Personally, I think it's too early to tell how bad a loss this was. Time will tell.

I have a friend going to a USC game. Can you post a link on the write up you did for the USC game last year? Thanks.

Thanks for sharing. A very enjoyable read.

My belief is this was the worst loss in the modern-day era for PSU football (since at least the '70's) but time will give us a true perspective on it as you say.

A couple others come to mind.

In 1983, we came off a National Championship and lost to unranked Cincy as a heavy favorite in week 2. We ended up 8-4-1 and Cincy was 4-6-1. Other losses were to eventual #2, 14,19.

In 1999, we were #2 and on a roll at 9-0 and lost to 5-3 MN. We lost to Michigan and Michigan St after that and finished at 10-3 after beating A&M in the Bowl. The beginning of the dark years.

Yes, those were bad losses. Toledo in 2000 was another bad one. What makes the UCLA loss worse was the vast disparity in expectations between the two teams and the surrounding circumstances. I was at the Cincinnati game in 1983, it was a huge upset but we were coming off a national championship and had lost a lot to graduation. In 1999, Minnesota was a pretty decent team and won thanks to several miraculous plays. UCLA was 0-4, had never led in a game, was averaging 14 points/game and had just fired their coaching staff yet they dominated us for much of the game. The number of PSU gaffes in the UCLA game was also mind-numbing. If we somehow manage to right the ship and UCLA ends up racking up a bunch of wins the rest of the season, my opinion might change. But as of right now, it's #1 for me.
