I gained some good pounds yesterday. I pretty much ate for 9 straight hours. I’m not saying this for no kooky chef Ramsey appreciation bs, I’m saying it for quantity reasons and weight gaining…

my day went like this:

12pm - prime rib, macaroni, taters, green beans, casserole thing. HUGE PORTIONS. REPEAT.
1pm - coconut cake, fudge, cookies
2pm - caramel corn, cheddar corn…cookies
3pm - caramel corn, cheddar corn…cookies
4pm - REPEAT
5pm - REPEAT
6pm - REPEAT + coconut cake
7pm - Sausage balls, cheese balls
8pm - sausage balls, cheese balls
9pm - cookies

Like lil Jesus intended. Go Cats. Go Bengals.

Bottom line -- Mash committed culinary adultery by picking candy corn over Blue Bell.

Fact. I ate so much I completely forgot about the blue bell. We actually had 4 of em for a total of 2 gallons of holiday appropriate frozen dairy goodness - Natural Vanilla Bean, Christmas Cookie, Egg Nog, and Butter Pecan. I gotta donate this to the food pantry or something.

I drove past Buc-ee’s (pronounced boo-SAY) this morning and it looks almost like an actual building with a city block’s worth of gas pumps.
When I read this I immediately thought of the Black Joe Lewis song “Bobby Booshay” (not to be confused with Bobby Boucher of Waterboy fame).

What’s their snack status though? Plenty of Slim Jims and Big Cup Reese’s I trust.

Spending the entire day there I assume. We expect a full rundown.

First of all, EVERY gas pump was full. Just an unreal amount of cars for 10 am in a non descript little town in South Georgia.

First thing we see for sale are giant bags of cooler ice for $.99. Helluva deal for frozen water.

We get inside and it is packed with people. Like Christmas Eve at Walmart kind of packed. If I ever get COVID, it’ll be from there. The place needs a people watching spot because there were all types. My favorite was the woman coming TO Buc-ee’s IN a Buc-ee’s tshirt. Wife called her a Superfan. Half of Madison County will see be outfitted in said gear before too long.

first, the negative. The Icee machines were all out of order. Probably 20 flavors deep, but none of them working. -10 points for that. There were also all these little signs saying that certain items were not available. So much for B’s (it’s too hard to type the name on a phone) being pandemic/recession/apocalypse proof.

B’s smells absolutely wonderful. Various and sundry meat smells wafting through the air. Jerky bar did not disappoint. Every snack you could ever imagine. Also every fountain drink, along with the almighty nugget ice.

We were a bit rushed because the kids were not as impressed as the wife and I were. I did make it out of there with a B’s metal tumbler, about $25 worth of snacks, some Jerky, and a deep intense burning desire to return.

Gas pump to prove I was there.
Skeleton in sone dude’s car, probably so he could use the HOV lane in Atlanta.
A not-so-great shot hoping to show the scale of this building.

Mav how was the food at that place? They are building one at Smiths Grove about 40 mins from me. I’ve heard they are overall just insane in size and all that. They bought 23 acres I think to build it on.

Buc-ee's ice bags usually come in two sizes: 10 lb for 79 cents and 20 lb for 99 cents. Crazy good pricing.

Gas pumps usually jammed if visiting during peak hours, 8 am - 8 pm. Not so bad early morning or late night.

Coffee bar rocks. Brisket station rocks.

I’m gonna check it out if they finally build it.

We got an unexpected, very thorough Buc-ee’s update from funky on the South Georgia location including multiple pics. We even got an unsolicited update from our long lost uncle on the progress of a Buc-ee’s in Smiths Grove that we didn’t even know existed. If only we had someone as reliable as funky & Jed who lived in the Richmond area who could deliver us updates on that particular Buc-ee’s as promised.

It’s pretty simple. Do your job, mash. That’s all we’re asking of you. Nothing more. Nothing less. Do. Your. Job.
