I love the fact that he used to play TE. He is an athletic guy for his size. The perfect combo for an SEC Lineman.

That is a big, powerful dude with good technique and excellent footwork. He looks like a tackle all the way to me.

No, not as long as Thayer Munford is available.

This is what I was wondering. Wills it seems like they know there's no chance to flip and Munford looks like he's gonna get the OSU offer he's been lookin for. Would they still have accepted a commitment from this kid if they felt strong about Munford?

I think so. Stoops(at least I think Stoops although it could've been Rowland) said a couple of days ago he'd like 2 more OL in this class and he was probably thinking about this guy and Munford.

I hope they land Munford. I think that kid is gonna be a star. Although this kid looks good, has good measurables and such. Another DL or two like these OL prospects we've signed and we're lookin real good in the trenches.

Might as well write off Munford to O$U. He will be headed there.

Really excited about this kid if he sticks. Great offer sheet and, as others said, great measurables

A welcomed addition to this class. You would think his commitment only helps with his teammate Joshua Paschal. Who already has ties to our program in his older brother.

Not sure this means the end of our Oline recruiting. Watkins is versatile. Believe he could be moved around G/T. Mumford is still wanted as a pure T.
To me, what is interesting is trying to look through the eyes of Mumford. If I'm him, can u afford to wait and hope u get an offer from OSU? To the exclusion of other power 5 offers? If I'm him, I sure wouldn't. I get the allure of OSU, but their current roster situation---tons of Oline---and a clear indication I'm a plan B recruit for them would not be appealing and it is very risky.

I jump at the UK offer. I redshirt a year perhaps, and then i have 4 years to play and showcase myself. Not sure as a recruit u could want much more! To me I don't think it would be a hard decision, but I'm not an 18yo kid and I haven't been for some time.

If we can bring in his team mate this will be a home run. Even without Paschal it is a solid hit. Love what we are seeing on the recruiting side and it should just get better and better. It is important to win our bowl game to keep the recruiting momentum going. Especially in Florida.

They must really like the ceiling for Watkins. He is a player that seems to be develop. With the recruits still on the board, those who visited last week and those who are visiting this (and some in January), taking Watkins, rather than pumping the brakes to see how things play, tells me a lot. Trust this staff!

I am thrilled to get Watkins if for no other reason than to keep the DMV area open. Also living here in Cincinnati and knowing a little about Munford, qualifying could be an issue. I hope we get both to pair them with Young, Jackson and Stenberg in the future.

But, there also has been some discussion that OSU wanted Trey Smith, but might take a more highly regarded player at another position if they lost him. They may also be playing Munford, thinking he is their commit regardless of how late they offer, while they try to flip a more highly rated OT.

I look forward to the day when an Ohio HS football player will effectively tell Urban Liar to go suck one after being strung along in the recruiting process; having that person commit to UK while doing so would be even sweeter.

I wonder if Munford and Watkins see Logan S and Toth being recognized in the SEC. UK is producing future NFL linemen.

Watkins looks very athletic for a big guy. I think were starting to see results for the past season, and will continue to see some results, meaning better recruits, or higher rated recruits, then we have seen in several years.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Rowland tweeted that Watkins' coach said he is a late bloomer with NFL potential. Hope he's right.[winking]
