After starting 0-2, Redhawks win 5th straight as DB Jack Jopes returns an int 65 yds for the winning TD with 13 seconds left! Redhawks host Waubonsie Valley next week with a chance to win the modified DVC outright!

Very surprised at the outcome of this one. NV seems to be turning a corner heading into week 10.
It appeared that NV was headed to possible victory...then the next thing you know...pass gets picked off with no one in front of the DB who takes it in with seconds left. The Wildcats will win out vs MV and NN and get back to post season play at 6-3..

Wow! Jopes is great. One of best DBs in state. NV, WV and NC will be tough outs in 8A.
Tough loss for the Wildcats. Driving to possibly win or get it to OT and throw a pick 6. The QB position is getting better and our guy has only played 7 HS games. But you can’t do that to your team that fought hard to win in a tough venue.

I agree with you that the Valley’s and Central will be tough outs in 8A. Neuqua lost to Stevie without their best player, at WV in a game that could have gone either way (17-10), and to NC on a pick 6 with 13 seconds left. They could easily be 7-0.

Yes...and the Redhawks if not for a sure TD that was fumbled away in week one with a little over a minute left would've beaten Hinsdale Central and could be 6-1 right now...

It is my opinion that the current NV QB will be the top QB in the DVC next season with Thorne graduating, but keep an eye on Redhawks Sophomore WR Sam Jackson who will more than likely move into the vacated QB spot and will be a dual threat QB possibly along the lines of someone like former Thornton QB Antwaan Randle-El.

Have seen Jackson throw in 7ons. Has a cannon of an arm and is faster than everyone else on the field.

His skills are off the charts. He has super poise for a Sophomore...I think..when it's all said and done..provided good health prevails...he could be a big time player in the state....

This thread is just supposed to make me furious eh?
Not a chance Bones. You're a quality guy...Honestly, I was stunned when he left Raiderville for the land of the Redhawks...but you know how it is around these parts...you could throw a stone from 365 Raider Way and hit another school in the area with a quality football program...just happened to land in D203 south of the DuPage river......

Its really amazing to me that neither he nor his cousin is at Thornton. Damn shame for the Wildcats

The Wildcat football ship has sailed Bones and it will be a running clock for the Raiders this week...again, although TTHS did pretty well against LW West yesterday...DGS would've been a good fit for SJ too...jus glad he didn't head farther west to NV or up to Mill street with the Huskies..
