When was the last time Naperville North and Naperville Central started the season 0-3? Further, by my count, all levels combined, both North and Central are 2-18 on the year.

I really don't want to hear "nobody wants to play us because our schedule is too hard".

It's time to do away with North and Central and combine back into Naperville Community High School. North would be the Frosh/Soph Campus, Central would become the Jr/Sr Campus. Or, because of parking....maybe the other way around.

You see, this will eliminate Norths Players transferring to Central (Istill dont get it) while saving the tax payers a pretty sizable amount on their real estate tax bills. The union would go for it because it's Administration that would get slashed.

How’s their BGYFL Program. We have a 10U gold game against them in two weeks?

I'm not sure how they are, but Naperville youth programs are spread all around in several different organizations. I saw a couple of them play in Oswego a few weeks ago and Oswego won both games.

No...a consolidation is a pretty big tax savings, my guess would be 10-15%. Further, this makeup between these two school is pretty unique. Not too many disctricts have this set up. They do exist however.

I am sure the parents in the district would love the fact that their children now have 2x as many kids to compete with in every program. All you would do is eliminate opportunities for students in extra curricular activities.

Very true. On this board, we tend to look at things from a strength of school/program perspective. Look at the Lincoln Ways. The elimination of North strengthened the remaining three LW programs. LWE is now arguably the best public school program in the state. To my knowledge, no other public school program consistently approaches the football numbers that LWE has. Is that good for the overall district and kids involved with football? Many of those backups at LWE would be starting without the consolidation. From that perspective, the closing of North has denied opportunities to many football-playing kids in the district.

A crap load of variables pjjp with the Lincoln Ways. Lost opportunities across the entire academic spectrum of athletics. Watching LWE for instance the school size of 2900 is still down from other years and overall well shy of Lockport. A winning program draws more attention and desire to play. LWE was well over 100 varsity last year...at I believe 90 this season. A district school is the new favorite for cost reductions in the state. Summit Hill 161 could pull away from the LW210 district leaving a huge dent in student size. Would Zvonar still have a winning program?

My point is this....and please give this some thought because I'm not as dumb as i look...the article refers to the great "baby bust". Research this please. I noticed a sharp fall off this year in football at all levels...talent and numbers. If you want to blame concussions, that's ignorant. Blame less kids to start (yes...some have maintained). Couple that with other sport options and an unrewarding game for most kids which is football, not to mention poor youth and high school coaching...and here we are. The shift is becomming massive. I picked up on the baby bust in 2012 and thought that was the end...i was mistaken. The lag is just starting today and will get worse.

Here is an example: when my oldest son was a 1st grader in 2008, Naperville had approximately 30 1st grade football teams (all programs in Naperville) Today, there is one... and thank you Patriots!

There's a lot of arguments to this...and a lot of views. Numbers will continue to fall and football as well as enrollment numbers will continue to fall. Please save the following...enrollments state wide will be down 20% in five years. Football enrollment will be down 40% from now.

Maybe the School Board for the Lincoln Ways "got it" way before most?

I think less 1st grade teams is likely a product of both "concussion/injury worries" and the Baby Bust you referenced. You'd have to know the 1st grade enrollment numbers throughout Naperville to really know.

Until the public schools in the Naperville area can keep the top youth talent in their own backyards from going to the privates, this trend will continue.

Five years ago, Neuqua by itself had an enrollment north of 5K. It’s been a steady and expected downward trend since then. Now that they, like their neighbors to the Central, are using Metea for September call-ups, the sky’s the limit!

Just to clarify, Neuqua's enrollment has never been at or above 5k. Enrollment peaked in 2009 at 4,736 students. When Metea had its first year of full enrollment (2011-2012), Neuqua dropped down to about 4,100 students. Today they're right around 3,700. Total enrollment at Neuqua is down about 8% over the last 6 years.

And yes, go Neuqua, and go Patriots.

Thank you. Naz, Benet, Montini, Fenwick, it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the kids playing youth ball in the area want to go to the schools who are sending kids to D1 schools, and are winning state championships.

Don’t forget they’ve also lost kids to Loyola, da Brook, Plainfield, and a few others I may have missed. The only school in 203 & 204 that I can’t think of a kid that has not enrolled or transferred away from is WV.

All i have to say is thank god for Matea!

Ive been writing about District 203, not 204. Benet is a unique Private School with a HUGE legacy enrollment. They arent really a recruiting school, and cant be due to their admittance standards.

For 203 Schools, no names, but how many kids from North or Central play at Fenwick, Montini or Naz? Someone mentioned da Brook, Plainfield and Loyola? The QB at Central came from da Brook and, from what i understand, still lives there.

If recruiting kids from 203 was so prominant, then why do kids transfer into NCHS like its a spin - style at an amusement park?
