This may be the 1st time I've ever seen this matchup happen with both teams winless. It's a must win for both. Both have played extremely difficult schedules thus far with NN facing the defending 7A champ and the best team in the CPL, and NC facing the top team in the WSCS, and the defending 8A champs. Something has to give.

What gives?

Very interested in seeing the score from Ohio this weekend between Trotwood Madison and Pickerington Central....

Can someone post that Trotwood/Pickering score early next week and/or is maxpreps generally accurate with the scores they report on the maxpreps site?

One of the best sites for Ohio HS football was always JJ Huddle. They have been bought by Max Preps and went poof. Real sad.

That being said, Joe Eitel’s site is the best for mirroring the state playoff rankings. Ohio uses computers to pick the 8 teams in each of 4 regions in each division (D1, biggest schools, DVII the smallest). He has scores (albeit a bit busy) at the top of this page and he is real quick in updating them.

Pickerington Central - 42
Trotwood-Madison - 19
Game was at Trotwood.

Didn't make the War of 204 tonight. I see WV won.. Congrats on that. NV still having trouble throwing the ball? Sounds like a defensive struggle.

Still having trouble calling pass plays? Yes.

Way way way too many penalities. WV had at least 6 personal foul/unsportsmanlike penalities. Must have had over 150 penalty yards for the game (can’t wait to see how many in the Daily herald). On one drive I thought the officials were just going to walk the ball into the end zone for Neuqua. WV almost gave the game away with yellow laundry every 3rd play. Those couldn’t all be legit penalties!! EDIT (Could they?). They said the refs were the crew that did the 4A state title game.

Bottom line:
* both defenses very solid
* Chevy is as advertised. Shifty, good vision. WV bottled him and the other RB up for the most part, but he did get loose 3 or 4 times. NV attacked the edges a lot and for the most part WV defended it well
* both teams need to find a little more balance with the passing game. The top teams in 8A will shut down one dimensional teams.
* some poor kid is going to have nightmares not holding onto that deep ball towards the end of the game. Tough catch in HS though.
* for the life of me I do not know why WV didn’t go for the Fieldgoal at the 13 yard line with 2 minutes to go in the game to go up by 10 - but the D came thru and maybe they wanted to make it excitIng for us fans I guess.

The sequel should be most interesting. Probably another defensive battle and low scoring game.

560 mile round trip road trip to a bunch of pissed off Edwardsville kids next week. I am very interested to see the Eds QB and RB. I hear that offense is electric from the southern guys (but tonite they had a bad case of the butterfingers vs East Side).

Central rolls 35-7. I haven't seen a one sided Central/North game in years. The Redhawks got the running game going with Danny Hughes, and Payton Thorne was on target. Central heads to Louisville KY next Friday to face the surprisingly winless Trinity Shamrocks who have lost to some big time powers like Moller of Cincinnati, and Indiana powers Carmel, and Warren Central. The Huskies (0-3) will host another winless team Metea Valley next week..Could MV be the favorites in this one?

No matter how good Chevy is he can’t beat 8 in the box (I am assuming they loaded up to stop him). Until Gronowski and the passing game get on track Neuqua will not progress.

A lot of 7 and some 8. We got burned a bit in the passing game by Libertyville so it didn’t look like WV was completely selling out to stop the run. It didn’t look like Neuqua was selling out to stop the WV run either. At times yes, but mostly no.
