My stomach is in knots. That was so bad. Worst wreck I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Geoff Bodine’s truck wreck was just as ugly
But he lived through it. Hopefully Newman does this one.

YouTube Bodine’s truck crash.
Amazing he survived

Bad sign
Not reporting he’s alive before race goes off

Way Earnhardt’s death was handled so family could be contacted

He honestly may have been killed on the hit to the wall. That was brutal in and of itself.

Still in disbelief the way the car flipped and turned to be in the worst imaginable spot.

He hit the wall hard and flipped
Then got slammed almost through drivers window. Worst possible place to get hit
Never seen a hit directly in the window or a car buckle like that. The hit to the wall happens all the time and the barrier seemed to work as intended but that t bone was brutal.

I’m hoping it’s just the opposite.
Nah. Any positive sign would've been reported when they removed him. Hopefully it's just not the worst.

The Rusty Wallace wreck was the worst I'd seen before this. He rolled for what seemed like minutes.

And now the NASCAR America show scheduled for 9 pm on NBCSports Network is cancelled. Showing some NHL thing instead

Zanardi’s legs being blown to bits was pretty bad.

I don’t know racing but man that sucks to go on the last meaningless lap.

I agree
The wall flexed and I’d say his head restraint probably worked. But the front of that car looks like it went into the side window.

I’ve been expecting one through a windshield but didn’t expect this

Folks, this is truly a miracle. I turned the race on 10 mins before the crash. First nascar I had watched in 2 years, and I was sick to my stomach after that wreck. I just knew it was fatal. I am so happy to hear this.

By the way NASCAR handled this I would have bet he was killed
I agree it was really weird. Guess something like that is hard to prepare for but maybe don't break out the horse track black screens next time.

And their .com headline is still Hamlin winning. That’s secondary in a situation like this.

Screens were ok if he was bloody or unresponsive, but not telling people he was alive when he left in ambulance wasn’t right.

His family could have used a little hope
The ones watching on tv that is

I don't blame them. The only leak was late and proved true and social media wasn't littered with false reports.

NASCAR wasn’t going to release anything until they heard from doctors what was going on, and rightfully so.

Not really a better way to handle a situation like that. They updated us as soon as they heard something.

I can probably agree with you on this. Just felt awfully Dale Sr like.

Nothing, nothing, nothing.....we’ve lost Dale Earnhardt.

Wallace wreck was epic. Car floating and then rolling. Can't imagine a more epic "single car crash" in Nascar. But definitely not the worst. Wallace hit no stationary object (wall) practically head-on at top speed. The rolling 5 or 6 times is a better gamble than a pair of solid whacks like Newman experienced today. Even Ricky Craven's wreck at Talledega was worse than Wallace's. But Rusty's is mesmerizing when you see it each time.

Very happy RN survived his wreck. But need to keep thinking about him. His injuries are likely significant.
