I shared this in another thread but thought I would share here since most of you guys would get the references but once I got in a discussion on Twitter with Dale Earnhardt Jr because I said NASCAR rigged the July race in Daytona the next time they were there after his dad was killed so he could win. He apparently took offense to it. I just told him I had never before or since watched a single car pass a line of cars drafting at a restrictor plate race and that I thought he had a restrictor place that was bigger than everyone else since they were given out by NASCAR. He said they wouldn't risk their reputation to make sure he won the race and my response was that their reputation as being fair was ruined long before that day.

I can understand people's skepticism about that race. NASCAR couldn't have written a better story if they tried.
But, DEI's dominance in that era was absolutely unmatched. Those engines were powerful and handling was key to being fast around Daytona during that time. So it isn't crazy for him to be able to pull out and pass a couple cars by himself.
Couple those cars with the son of the best super speedway driver in NASCAR and it is not a surprise he won.
The same comments are what made Jr resent Jimmy Spencer for so long. The recent episode of his podcast where he had him on was really hard to listen to IMO. Jr barely talked and most of it was Jimmy incoherently rambling. Never was a big fan of Jimmy's.
I don't think the podcast healed any of Jr's feelings towards him, either.
