That was an off the record conversation and they published that anyway. He is stating what everybody outside of your fan base thinks. Yes, Zion is a monster and deserves the hype but Nas is not wrong. This is a case of the media taking advantage of an 18 year old. The guy who was talking to him point blank said this is between you and me and then they posted it anyway. Nas is a great kid and it pisses me off when you have schmucks in the media that want to stir the pot.
Were you there when he said this is between you and me?

Agreed. And some on here are hypocrites because they blasted ESPN last year when Trae Young was the it kid. Same ones blasted Anthony Davis when he was the it kid was well. This goes for the hypocrites on UNC bird and UK board as well who are complaining about ESPN coverage of Zion

The media is just doing its job. Reporting on what people want to see. Did it last year with Trae Young and further in the past with Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin, Steph Curry, and others.

I don't blame Nassir. It was a good win for them and it certainly did more than sting for us.

Can't help him much where the media wants to take their story.

I will say that my perception of UNC's ability to go far in the tournament increased.

UNC will be feeling a lot of pressure to beat Duke when Zion is back. Should be a fun game....more fun than the last one I hope.

They’ve had a favorable ACC schedule and beat Duke without Zion. They only played UVA once and lost at home. They also lost to Kentucky, who we blew out.

It was in confidence. There is audio that goes with that. Some reporter said this is between me and you.

I am pretty clear with my student-athletes from day 1 to not expect any conversations with journalists to be off the record. With the professionals I know are excellent in the cheats Sports Information office, I would be THOROUGHLY SHOCKED if this was not made very clear to him...

I agree. It is never easy to reconcile all the nuances of who beat who, and where, and by how much.

They won a game. And I thought they played really well. I still like our team, it’s character, and it’s chance in the Big Dance by a wide margin to our rivals down the road.

My point was, does he say one thing if it's private and something different if he knows it's public???
Why not? I often do. There are something’s that are said in private that are not filtered when we are speaking in public. The kid should have had media training. Whatever.

Yeah, that never works out. If you try hard enough with x beat x who beat x, you can potentially come up with some mid major being the best team in the country

In many things, I agree.....but why sugar coat what you think about a player or team? Just say what you really think??

It's a business.. people want to see Zion. They tune in because they love or hate Duke. It gets them ratings, which gets them advertising bucks.

Well, I'm 55...and would like to think that I am a little wiser....and a little nicer.

I don't need to further articulate what the kid is trying to convey.

I thought Nas was cool without being a featured player? Remember his comments towards Duke freshmen earlier this season? Now, he wants to know why the country is focused on Zion? Bruh

Well next year he can be the featured player or if not the year after the next and if not that year he could be the featured player that year. Have I ran out of years. OFC

Say what you mean and mean what you say!!!!

#expossd

There’s nothing wrong with trashing your rival in private. I’m sure our private dorm, bus, plane, gym, locker room, whatever chatter is distasteful and vulgar about other teams.

But this dude LITERALLY said “Be so good that nobody can ignore you.” While the person he’s complaining about is so good that nobody can ignore him. That’s a knee slapper!

I think that McDonald's game MVP went to his head. He did look great, but the difference between him and Zion on a scale of 1-10 can't be computed on one hand

Is this punk becoming the second coming of PJ Hairston ?

Roy likes to portray the “class act” theme just as much as we (or most schools) do. I could careless if he receives repercussions because he’s a non-factor but I’m waiting to see it happen.
