Landing Ament would be huge for Kentucky from an optic level. Pope still hasn't landed a top 20 player outside of the state in his entire career.

We can say that it is not necessary, and technically that would be true. But let's admit something - wouldn't it be nice to see him actually get it done, and know that he can get it done?

While some on here are saying what THEY think would be great fits, Pope is missing on players left and right. Better hope the issue we're having is NIL.
You laughing at his post talking about my family tells me you’re at the same level he is.

Your Mom, Dad, and both sets of grandparents
He's cheeks.

I can tell you what's gonna happen. He's gonna never improve. And never be worthy of getting those mins, but people here are gonna ***** and complain that he should be playing because he's from Kentucky and scored a lot of points against other earth bound non elite college level players when he was in high school
That’s Jamal’s post about Noah in a thread. Case in point, one of the reasons why I called him an idiot. He’s constantly trashing pope and players on the team. That’s why I called him an idiot. Read his whiny a** posts enough and you all will figure that idiot out

I was just laughing at the bickering, but I agree that we shouldn't trash players because they're not meeting our standards. We're all tense right now as UK fans because of all the tweets and media. I miss the old days when we found out players were part of the team AFTER they had signed.

The problem is the contingent that attacks other fans. That’s the biggest problem with our fanbase. We don’t need to be unified but calling each other names is low IQ. I think there is legit discussion to be had about our recruiting strategy. I’m not going to sit here and critique our staff until the season comes. I suppose Williams had no interest in UK. If this dude can be a lock down defender for us that’s a game changer. He may have been the best defender at Alabama.he was one of those guys they just seemed to keep throwing at you. We should have a solid team next year. Still need that superstar ament fits the bill

I’d tell him we’d give him $5. $500,000 at the most. Damn this $4 million and you’re not sure what you’re getting. Then if he gets injured that’s z a lot of money for nothing.

That guy threw a fit when Cal left. He’s not a UK fan

I’d still rather take aments money and add a million or so to it and get Jackson. He’s already a proven Ament basically.

You wanna pick and choose which complaining is acceptable. I don't care about your feelings Woodrow. If I think Noah will be overvalued by the fanbase, so be it. Get over it.

I don't think so, SOS. I respect your opinion, but getting Ament and missing on Folgueiras, for example, is a major fail. In my opinion there is no comparison in regard to which one will have the biggest impact on winning next season. Whatever Ament is worth, Folgueiras or Lendeborg would be worth 3x that. I think Pope's got this roster close. Let's not blow it by wasting resources on one year of Ament.

Right... my 30 plus year covert operation of disguising myself as a UK fan to talk to a bunch of strangers on a message board is almost complete. Operation Take Down Woodrow is in full bloom.
Lmao on to ignore you go. ✌️

First Domino is down. We tried to tell you....
Tell me what?
If you can make it in the pros you got to go when you get that 2nd contract your set. It's generational changing money.

I know how Cal operates, It's no different that the 2 backcourt players we got. Just one year.
These kids are going to school somewhere.

As I said before I dislike Cal probably as much as yall but longer for me ever since he was at Memphis.

If he's good enough to play 25-30 minutes a game and hold up physically the entire year without an injury, I'd love to have him.
He has handle and stroke ... !!

Kinda mind blowing Kentucky can’t compete with Duke or Arkansas financially
To be honest there are a lot of schools we can't compete with financially. There are a ton of schools that have much larger athletic department money and huge NIL money. If a school has a few billionaires to contribute to NIL on demand we and most schools can't compete. Several SEC schools have billionaires who love sports. Tim Cook at Auburn, TN has one, Arkansas has a couple. The bottom line it is not always just about the money. It is still recruiting, relationships, culture, and team quality. Kids want to win.

I'm concerned Ament will be Skal, a player with very good potential, but not yet with the body to match it. Or worse, Bradshaw.
Skal never played much competition and shied away from contact(my recollection). Nate is just thin. He really doesn’t shy away from contact as much as he is just not strong yet.

You’re not wrong, but I think that ship is sailed(hope I am as wrong about this as I was JQ). I think he is headed to Duke, Louisville or Arky.

No, not for me. I was not impressed by Ament in the McDAA game and I want to win next year. I’d rather get a pure shooter rather than him. Optics in the off-season mean a lot less than finishing the year going to an Elite Eight or better. I think I could probably score in the paint on Ament —- dude is a stick. Go deep in the tournament and those optics mean more than winning the off-season imo.

We went through this for 15 years. All of those guys will leave. Its what Cal's players do. And we arent talking portal.
NIL money has changed everything- many of the guys that left us in Cal's time here would have made more NIL money in today's rules than they can/could make in the NBA- assuming that the rumor of a 1 million per year price to pay a starter in the SEC. Cal at Arkansas will be seeing more returning players than what he ever had in his time at UK.

If im Pope I pull the offer. We need an established stud guard at this point. He waited too long, spots gone. If we're paying millions to someone I'd rather have most the guys we're on with in the portal over this guy.
